Split stay question

So I’m transferring to my next hotel but have dining reservations before check in

I assume my magic band won’t work for purchases cause I will be checking out right before I leave for the dining reservation.

Your Magicband is tied to your My Disney Experience account, not your resort stay. Disney IT may have a hiccup and not make this seamless, but if all works as it is supposed to, you *should* have no problem charging and accessing your room using the same band for your next resort. If you are able to physically check out of your current resort so they can release the bands from the reservation, that would be a good thing to do as well.
