Split Stay Question

We will be at Disney the beginning of December because my son is performing with his school choir. We decided to go down a couple days early and enjoy some family time. We can get the same two rooms we will be staying in or we can stay those first two days in Port Orleans or All Star Music in the Family Suite. How hard is it to move to the next hotel? I have heard Disney will move your luggage to the next hotel for you. Is that true? Thanks for the advice!

As long as you are moving from one Disney-owned resort to another Disney-owned resort, they can transfer your luggage for you. You still have to pack it up and take it down to bell services, but after that, Disney will move it to your new resort. It takes a while (I don't remember exactly how long, but you probably won't get the luggage until late afternoon at the earliest). Otherwise, you can move your luggage yourself by taking a taxi with your luggage from the first to second resort.

We would be going to another Disney resort and wouldn't need our luggage until late that afternoon. We will have our car also but planned to drive ourselves to the park that morning and head to the new resort later on in the day. Thanks for your help! Our group planner would only book All Star Movies for us.

It's easy to transfer, but don't expect your luggage to be ready before 4pm.

Like others have said, split stays are super easy. We love being able to check out new resorts! Enjoy!

Not only will Disney move your luggage, they will also accept it in long term storage. At least they did that for us last November when we were staying at a Disney resort before and after a 7 day Disney cruise (which was booked completely independently of the cruise). We later moved to another Disney resort and they then moved the ~8 suitcases directly from long term storage to our new room. The level of service was superb and helped us a lot.
