We have never done a split stay in all the times we have been to WDW. To get out points back up next year, we are looking to do a split, 3 nights with DVC and we are going to try Ft Wilderness for 3 nights. We like to get some food for the room when we stay (1 bedroom) and that way we save on eating out expenses. How do you coordinate this when you go?

I know it's not DVC, but any comments from those who have stayed at Fort Wilderness? I spent a few hours walking around and it looked like a really nice relaxing place.

Many DVC members use a grocery delivery service. Two of the most mentioned are GardenGrocers.com and wegoshop.com. Others rent a car for one day and drive to a local grocery store, Target or Walmart. If using delivery service like Garden Grocer, Bell Services will hold the groceries until you arrive. I understand wegoshop will not deliver until you are in your room and are there to accept the groceries, but I might be wrong about that. Also if you buy your groceries and you room is still not ready you can check them in with Bell Services and they will refrigerate or freeze the items that need it and store everything else in a dry area.

When you transfer from your DVC resort to Ft. Wilderness then you can have Bell Services move your luggage and groceries for you if you staying in the cabins. Not sure if they provide that service if you are camping. Others will know.

We've never stayed at Ft. Wilderness, but we did dine there at the Trail's End Restaurant and did the Haunted Carriage Ride. It seemed like you were in a wilderness campground area at a park. Everyone seemed friendly. And boy were there a lot of people.

You might want to check out the camping at WDW board here on the Disboards. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=24

Most of our split stays are VB and then some where at WDW. Otherwise I am only changing rooms to go from one sizeroom to another at the same resort. Do not like moving that much.
