I booked 7 nights at POFQ and one final night at BWI at the WDW Official site, when I booked POFQ I did my Magic Your Way ticket option for 9 days, then I booked the final night at BWI as "room only" since I already purchased the tickets via the first reservation. Did I do that correctly or should I have split the ticket purchases with the room purchase also? Never did a split stay before and as I understand they will delivery my luggage also correct?

You should be fine purchasing the tickets for the length of your stay on your first reservation. There is no need to split the ticket purchase--it would actually cost you more to buy a one day ticket for the last day of your visit than to just buy a longer ticket with your first reservation (the more days on your ticket, the less it costs per day).

Yes, they will move your luggage for you, but it could take several hours to get it to BWI from POFQ. You might want to keep a small bag of essential items with you in case your luggage is delayed longer than you expect.
