Split Stay Question and Discounts

I have seen where people booked their stays as a split stay to take advantage of 2 seperate discounts. I have a few question about this because I have been looking at it and it would actually save us ALOT of money.

1st if you do this do you need to move hotel rooms since you are checking and and checking back in the same day?

I was looking the book the Kids stay and Play free. I though I could book the room for the 4 days that is required and upgrade our tickets to 8 day passes. I would then book the remaining leg of our trip using the 30% off for moderates. This will save us an additional $214 over all.

I guess the 2nd and most important question is WHO HAS DONE THIS and were there ever any issues???

Thanks a bunch.

Assuming the second part of the trip is room only. Otherwise you would still need to buy whatever tickets the package requires.
You of course would need to check out and back in. There is a chance you would have to change rooms, especially of you book different room types. However I would think the chance you would not have to switch rooms is more likely. (Again, assuming you book the same room type on both reservations.)

We came back last week from the GF and did this, we had 7 night package and than a room only. When we checked in they told us we wouldn't have move room and they would slip keys under the door the morning of our checkout. The night of, we confirm it with them again and they said the keys would be slipped under the door the next morning.

They had upgraded us from garden to lagoon view, so when the morning of checkout came there was no keys under the door, so I just stop by the front desk and they printed me new cards, they told me the delay was cause they had upgraded us from the first check in and they would have to do the same for the second. It was fairly simple, I had no problems, even with the upgraded view they still let us keep the room. It seem like people do it often enough, from talking to the CM at front desk and people still get to keep their original room.

I booked this type of split but w/ two different resorts.

Even though only staying 5 nights at the first resort where we booked the kids free discount, I was able to book 8 day tix and was not charged any "upcharge" for the extra days on dds ticket. The only cost for her ticket was for the PH option.

I was going to post this same question. :thumbsup2 We want to start with kids stay and play and then switch to a new package with room only, but stay at the same resort.

So, tickets don't expire until 14 days from first use, so when your first package ends, I assume the key to your room doesn't work anymore, but you can still use it for your tickets? And then you get a new card for your new room (even if they don't make you actually change rooms at the same resort) ?

We did this a couple of years ago and when we checked out of POR and into WL, they just moved the remaining tickets onto our room key at WL. Very simple! So, in your case, just ask them to move the tickets from your package to your Room Only reservation. :)
