I am seriously considering a split at a Value & a Mod. I was thinking 3 nights at ASMu, 4 nights at CSR with DDP on the package. My AAA agent says it's not a problem, but I'm hearing otherwise from a few others. She said one of her clients that went in March did it with no issues tranferring DDP or tickets.
I wanted to know if that's what the majority of the experience has been for those of you that has done this???

Disney would consider that two packages. They really don't have anything called a split-stay. That's a word we made up. If you want DDP you have to have a package for each stay and that means at least a one day MYW park ticket for each stay. Tickets can be purchased for as many days as you want for the first stay and they would not have to be transferred. You could do so but you could also just keep your key card from the first stay and use that. The park days on your room key don't expire just because you checked out.

We have done many split-stays. We always had a car so we moved our luggage ourselves but I have not heard too many bad things when Disney does it. You just don't have your bags for part of a day.

When we do a split-stay we usually only do the dining plan on the first part and then we are free to go offsite or other options on the second part.

We did a split saty 5 nights POR and 4 nights CSR in November! I loved it!! It was so fun to get a new resort 1/2 way through the trip.. new pool, new room, new food. If you want DDP you do have to buy a 1 day ticket to add to your second room. If not, then just buy all tickets on your first room and skip DDP for the 2nd part. We moved our own stuff in our car.

I will do a split stay again if I could stay 4 nights in each place. 3/4 should be workable too. You may be without a room part of the day on the switch day, so plan for that.

We loved CSR!!!

We did a split stay last year - one night POR (added the week before our trip due to a last minute business meeting for my DH in Jax), 3 nights CR and 4 nights BC. The transition from POR to CR was SO easy. We literally departed POR at 8 am on a Saturday, checked in at CR by 8:30 and our room was ready there--we did not expect that to be the case. The transition from CR to BC was less pleasant in that we checked in to BC around noon, but it took 4 hours for them to find a clean room for us. Now we know that the actual time they have to have a room ready is around 4 pm, however that day I had a migraine, the kids were exhausted and my husband was sad to be leaving the CR. It made for a long afternoon on the BC couches.

Would I do a split stay again? Probably, but I think we prefer to check in to one hotel and stay there for the week.
