Uh oh - I'm starting to have my resort anxiety attacks again!

We are booked for 2 weeks at YC waterview room. First week is a Grand Gathering. I took us a long time to figure out what would be the best resort for the various ages of our group and YC fit us to a tee.

The rest of our family will leave after 7 nights, and we'll be staying an additional 7 nights. Last year we did 14 nights at YC and DH loved not switching resorts, but I started to get a hankering for our monorail resorts.

I'm considering keeping YC for 8 nights (I want to make sure we still have our room on the rest of the groups' last day in case someone needs a nap, and to making changing for the airport easier - they'll probably be taking a late flight out to get a full day in).

Then I'm considering switching over to the Poly. We spent our January trip at GF, and haven't stayed at the Poly since January 2007. Kids love GF, Poly and YC (as do DH and I) so that's not a problem. We would even save $300 by switching over (to a gv Poly room).

What would you pick - of course I have to sell DH on this. THe $300 probably won't be much of an incentive since we are footing the bill for this whole trip to a tune of almost $25,000, but it might be a little added incentive.

WOuld you stay or would you go?

I would do a split stay, we do that when we go for a week because it feels like 2 vacations in one. I would not go to the Poly tho..I would pick AK or WL, Poly is just way to nuts and loud for us

I would go for the split stay also. Two weeks is a long time at one spot and you will be at each long enough to get settled in. Poly is a nice change of scenery and geography from YC.

I'm with your husband on this one. We like to completely unpack and move in. It's just a waste of time to repack it all and then unpack again.

tough call I usually say never split but you would have a fair amt of time in each resort. Oh what the heck, Im feeling crazy I say split. It would make it feel like to vacations and they are both really nice resorts (my 2 & 3 fav!)

Have a great time!!!!

based on your trip length, I would say split it as well.

split stay lol...feels like two vacations in 1. wish i was going lol

I am partial to split-stays, and have done it on all but one WDW vacation (and not even as long as yours). 14 days seems like a long time to stay in one place, and I agree that staying in different resorts makes it feel like two vacations in one. You can always use your group's last day as the day to begin packing, and have Disney transport your luggage the morning of your switch.

I'm going to even things up a bit and say stay put, unless you are very good at living out of your suitcase... one unpacking day and one packing day is more than enough for a two week vacation

HI:goodvibes

I am your long lost cousin Diana from Chicago! How great to meet you here! And yes, I will be happy to come along on your great trip:):lmao:

Have been following your trip, so excited for all of you:)

Well. I fell in love with YC last year, thanks to concierge:) However, I love GF and the Poly as well:)

Since you have a long trip planned:grouphug: I would definately consider a split stay!
There's something about the Poly.......

Good luck in deciding:goodvibes

Another vote for a split stay! I loved our split stay in January and we will be doing it again in July. I thought it was super easy and that it really felt like two vacations in one. We have four children and felt it was not a problem at all to pack up and shift from one resort to the other. In fact, our kids really thought it was fun to change! Have a great time and let us know what you decide.

I say split the stay. You will have the opportunity to truly experience both resorts for a full week. It will feel like two times the vacation! Take the second week to try a new resort, you never know if you might find one you love! I can't help but notice the a stay at the Contemporary missing from your list. Maybe it'
s time to try this it!

Robyn,
Another vote for split stay! We just love the Y&BC, but given the length of your vacation, I think it would be great to have a different home base for an additional 6 nights! Also, you would have plenty time to resettle and unpack. Poly is a great choice for a monorail resort, but so is GF (:lmao:). Good Luck with your plans!

We've done one split stay, never again, was not worth the time and effort. We are the people who like to unpack everything and settle in, get to know the resort and relax. If we ever found another resort we liked, we'ld do it on another trip. Living out of a suitcase is not relaxing nor a vacation to us and checking out and back in is no fun either and a wasted day. If we ever stayed for 2 weeks, our room would become like our home, everything set up and layed out, nope not moving, pool is where is always is, know the food court and items I like and its here I'm staying. Some people do not like change, us especially, and definitely while on vacation.

I am sooo torn and sooo indecisive!

HockeyMomR - We do love the GF too - but we just were there in January so the kids wanted to go back to the Poly since we haven't been there since January 2007 - of course either one is great!

We would never live out of our suitcases! We've done the split stay before (sometimes 3 resorts when we've added Universal into the mix) so I usually keep one suitcases that we don't unpack the whole time at resort #1 and I'm pretty good at packing and unpacking. DH isn't thrilled about moving - he likes staying put, but he admitted that as much as he loves YC, sometimes he does miss the monorail resorts towards the end of the two weeks.

I am leaning towards doing the split, but still would like to have more input.

Anyone else?

First of all, you are an awesome Mom, I think I have been reading along long enough to know you have grown kiddos right, grandkids maybe? How fun such a trip will be!

Anywho, I am also like your DH and like to stay put but honestly? after a week in one room I'd be cleaning anyway! so might as well move! The monorail is a huge hook for us. And once everyone is moved they will also be glad they moved I bet.

Have a great trip! We hope to be able to do this someday as well. Our 2 grown sons both still love Disney so the day is coming.

And the decision is . . . We are going to the Poly!

We'll be at YC July 20-28 and moving over to the Poly July 28-3.

Hopefully we'll feel like we have the best of both worlds!

DH and I couldn't decide, kept going back and forth, so we put it to a vote with the kids and they all picked a split stay!
