If we are going for 9 nights in Jan. and four of them we will stay offsite in a Marriott 2 bedroom villa the other five we will probably try to stay at the Wilderness Lodge, would you do the offsite first or last and why? I thought I would like the villa last for the space and relaxation but my husband wants to do it first so that he can be looking forward to staying on-site and thinks he will feel the magic more when we are on-site so fears we would be sad to leave to go to an off-site location. WWYD?

When we do this, it depends on availability. But assuming you can decide now (bothare available) I would consider your arrival and departure times (will you arrive late or have to leave early?) and then I would look at your EMH parks, and parade and firework schedules if you have them, and decide which time frame is best to be on site.

9 nights? wow that's fantastic. I hope some year we can muster up enough vacation to stay that long.

Well I'd probably book the offsite last. I personally would find it hard to downsize to the WL. Plus you can do all the laundry before you head home.

After being couped up in a hotel room for 5 days, you DH will be feeling a lot of magic at your offsite choice. lol

We don't do EMH anyways, as we follow TourGuideMike's advice and never need the EMH's to get it all done. I might plan my MK days around my stay at the WL since the transportation to the park is so convenient from the WL.

Good luck!

I also suggest that you stay off site for the second half of the trip. You can do laundry so you have clean clothes when you go home. You will have a chance to slow down and rest up before heading home and facing the real world again. I think if you stay off site first, you will forget to enjoy it while the anticipation and excitement for the Wilderness Lodge is looming.

When doing an on/off trip we usually prefer to end our stay at a Disney resort. However, since your offsite resort is a 2 bedroom villa, I would stay there last. The laundry thing is huge. The added space will make up for having to leave the Magic. How many days do you think you will spend at the parks?

WL in Jan - that is tough call for me.

Dec and Jan are my favorite times for WL. It is just so beautiful in the winter.

generally go the WDW resorts last.

but everyone is correct too - you could relax and do the laundry in your own villa.

I'd do on-site first, but it would probably depend more on availability and price. The first few days of your trip, you will want to be in the parks as much as possible. By being at the WL, you can get to the parks at opening and do all your favorite rides. By the end of the trip, you'll enjoy having all that extra space and just relaxing. You can go to the parks when you feel like it, but you won't have to worry about getting on your fav rides because you'll have done them.

Unless you have reserved a round-trip town car, you can take ME to WL. Rent a car on the day you move off site and then return the car at the airport. You WILL want a rental car off site.
