Split stay necessary for discount ? Worth it ?

They announced discounts for October when we go which is great. Unfortunately the discount starts October 6 and our trip is from the 5th to the 12th. Apparently they can’t apply the discount to the overlapping days unless we turn our trip into a split stay. They said we probably could stay in the same room though they can’t guarantee.

With the savings from this we could actually upgrade to a water view at boardwalk instead of resort view. But it also means we’d lose a day of ADR and ride reservations because of the now split stay.

Is this worth it ? Is this really the only way to apply the discount ? I’m surprised we can’t just apply the overlapping days.

If the discount is large enough, I’d say that it’s worth it.
Since you’d be losing a day of ride reservations, you could always formulate a game plan for a less busy park that day? Or hit a water park maybe?
I personally wouldn’t worry about missing a day of ADR’s.

I am not following how changing your reservation will result in a discount being offered when Oct 5 (first day of your stay) is outside of the discount window.

? Their current res would be 5-12. To apply discount for 6-12, they need to change the 5-12 reservation to 6-12, and add the 5th as a separate (split) reservation?

For a lot of these discounts/promotions it’s not just a different nightly rate for the nights you’re booking, you have to actually select the promotion, and all the nights have to be eligible.

Yeah, I needed to have the WHOLE trip in the window, so we made 6-12 and made 5 a separate reservation, we upgraded to the water view from resort view, for basically the same price....I think it was likely worth it.

But it does mean that we can't book all our ADR and rides on the 5th, we need to do most of them on the 6th. Hopefully it won't affect too much!

I think this will be worth it. 6-12 is still 7 days so you'll have plenty of advantages for dining and rides towards the latter half, so plan the harder to get reservations for then. I'd do this without thinking twice!

It’s only one day you’re losing on your ADR and ride selections. I wouldn’t worry about that.

As far as switching the room, yes they cannot guarantee but it is very likely you will be scheduled to stay in the same room. They don’t want to move you since that also means needing to give the room a full cleaning the next day.

I’d go for it! For sure :smickey:

We’ve had this a few times and just go to the front desk before checkin to make sure they know we have 2 reservations of same room type and prefer not to move.
