Split stay messing with my 180+10!

Ugh, vent here...

Trying to book our ADRs and the system won't let me past our third day! What gives!

Guess this means I'll need to call....
 
I heard some people were able to book it all at once last year. This year I was only able to book split stays separately. 180 from each check-in date.
 
Just did a split stay. Had to book both stays separately. It stinks but that's how it is. For FP+ it will let you book the whole length of the stay.
 

Calling will do no good. Everyone has to play by the same rules. The 180+10 gets way overused here. It's actually 180+length of stay up to 10 days. Two separate reservations (split stays) require two different 180+length of stays.

But is wasn't always like that. That's why you see long timers wanting it to be the way it was just a couple years ago.

The change was frustrating and annoying. And not announced.

And I bet it's simply because an IT change was made, not for any decided-upon reason. Some 19 year old intern in Seattle Disney IT just didn't know how to write the right code or didn't understand why it had been written the way it was written (because s/he had never planned a WDW vacation) and changed it.

I doubt that. It was rolled out to the public, and two months late, rolled out to the call center. They new full well what they were doing, and they had time to evaluate the fall-out.
 
I have a DVC split stay coming in October/November and I was able to make them all at the 180 days by calling DVC directly.
 
There's a potential way to get around this but it's somewhat of a pain and some might question the morality of it (probably only of value if you're trying to make ADRs during a high volume dining period, otherwise, probably not worth the trouble).

I won't go into detail about it here but there's a discussion on it in the split stay thread over on the resorts board.

Disney makes booking split stays way more difficult than it needs to be (which is somewhat ironic, because they probably make more money off of the average split stay guest than the average on-site guest in general).
 
Just make a fake reservation for the entire length of stay and use that to book, then cancel it once both 180 day windows are open.

That's not how I remember it happening. I remember it being a LOT more happenstance than that.

(and given that I know one of the then-19 year old underpaid interns up there, thankfully now at amazon making much more and doing more good in the world, I'm good with my concept of it, LOL)

US too! We do split stays a lot. I have made the ADR's for the first part of the split stay on line, then wait till 9am, call DVC MS, and they make the second part of the split stay ADR's. GOOD LUCK! :wizard:::yes::
 
1) The Dining System (known as "Ala Carte") does not recognize a split-stay.
2) It assumes the second stay is a new reservations, and, thus, it must wait for the 180-day.
3) Actually, quite fair to everyone.

Add to that another wrinkle I discovered today: For ADR purposes, My Disney Experience online considers the day you change resorts to be part of your second 180+ window.

Even though you have a resort reservation checking out that day, you cannot make ADRs online (website or app) based on that first reservation. Then system sees the checkin date for the second reservation and gives it precedence. At least this is what the Interenet Help Desk told me, so take it with a grain of salt. :crazy:

I was able to phone in to Disney Dining and make the ADRs for that day, no problem. However, I did miss out on the more prime locations and times that were available first thing in the morning. I know that because MDE would let me search and see availability for that day, but gave me an error message when I actually tried to book it. It was frustrating and bizarre. :badpc:

I was assured that I will have no problem booking the rest of my dining tomorrow, when the 180+ window opens for my second resort checkin. We'll see, but I am optimistic! :shamrock:
