We are doing a split stay between BWI and BCV. The day of our transfer with be our HS day. We will have our vehicle, but would rather just walk/boat over to HS and get the car from BWI after to drive over to BCV. Would you just have bell services transfer the luggage to not have to deal with getting it out to the car that morning? Or have bell services just hold it at BWI and pick it up when you are ready to head over to BCV? Or,???

I would store the luggage at BWI bell services and just take it via car to BCV when I'm ready to check in there.

If you're going to be at HS most of the day anyway, I would 100% just have Disney do the transfer so the only thing I had to do was drive there at the end of a busy day.

I would give your luggage to BWI bell services and then just pick it up when you are done with DHS and drive it to BCV. I like transferring our luggage ourselves - less risk of losing it.

I always do split stays, usually 3 resorts per visit. I always have Bell Services transfer to the next resort and have never lost a thing. I do tip the folks well. Since the policy came into play about refrigerated items, I bring backpack cooler and transfer those items myself. The Bell Services at my new resort will take the items and keep them cold until I check-in.

Do you tip when you leave it at the first resort or just when you arrive at the second resort. Or tip both?

One time (before we moved to Florida and didn't have a car) I had our luggage transferred by Disney from the Poly to Animal Kingdom Lodge- Jambo House and it wasn't delivered until almost 8 pm. It sucked not having toiletries and a change of clothes after a long AK park day. After that experience we just moved it ourselves (via uber before we moved here and now we just use our car.)

If you don't have cold items to store and want to avoid multiple tipping situations you could store the luggage in your car all day and move the car when done at DHS.

The more I've thought about it, the more every option seems a bit of a pain. I've moved our HS day and made our transfer day a "miscellaneous" day of no parks - just eat lunch at the Grand Floridian at DD's request and shopping at Disney Springs. We don't mind driving to those places. Thank you all for your insight as it will help for future split stay plans!

I know you've changed your plans but I do a lot of split stays with a car. I do it one of two ways, depending on my mood, with variations on those. Way #1: I get up fairly early even on vacation so I get up, eat breakfast, put everything in my car and head over to resort #2. I'm usually there between 7 and 8 am so obviously 99% of the time my room is not ready. Variation #1 for this way, I leave my luggage in my car, go check in just to let them know I'm there and head off to a park. Variation #2 for Way #1, I take my luggage with me when I check in and leave it with bell services and head off to a park. Sometimes I'll pick it up myself from bell services and take it to the room, sometimes I'll call them when I get to the room and have them drop it off.

Way #2: I still get up early and have breakfast, take my luggage to my car and leave it at resort #1. When I'm done with the park, I ride the bus back to resort #1 and head off to resort #2 (95% of the time this is after I've gotten a room ready text).

I always park hop and always go to the resort at some point in the day to swim or rest so Way #2 is just my break in the day.

I don't have anything with me that needs a fridge, sometimes I might have some fruit or cheese I snacked on during the drive down but that just goes in a small cooler so is fine in the car.

I would move the bags yourself. The one time I had Disney move my bags from Bay Lake Tower to Contemporary our bags took until almost midnight to arrive it was awful

I tip when they pick it up from my room and again when they deliver it to the new room. I do not have a car when I am at WDW, so no room to store things.

Bags are usually available around 4PM never had an issue. You have options. You can take the bags to Bell services as welll as pick them up from Bell service in which case we would tip around 1 dollar a bag to each Resort. You can have your bags picked and delivered from/to your room by calling Bell service in which case we would tip more as a person is hauling your luggage for you. No matter a person still has to get, tag and load your bags for transfer. Unload and find your bags at the other resort. I will say when I have picked my bags up the person is always happy when I hand them a few bucks (we don’t have a lot of bags when we travel 4 at most) so maybe not expected but a smile is always worth it for Me.
