I am taking my mom (66), my bonus daughter (13), and my 2 nieces (8 and 12) on their first ever Disney Trip May 29th-June 7th. This trip was prompted by my son marching with his marching band in Magic Kingdom on June 1st.
Currently, I have booked a split stay between ASM family suites from the 29th-3rd and then Poly from the 3rd-7th in a deluxe studio.
But, I’m considering doing a 3-way split and changing to AoA family suite from 29-1st, then Poly 1st-4th, and AKL Villa 4th-7th. Packing and unpacking is not an issue and we’re all up for seeing and doing as much as we can because this will probably be our only trip to WDW.
I need help with deciding on making it a 2 way split (like I currently have), changing to AoA and doing a two way split with Poly, or doing the 3 way I posted above.
This is the itinerary I have in mind with the 3 way split:
29: Arrival day at AoA, get to resort and relax
30: HS (nieces are huge Toy Story and Star Wars fans)
31: EPCOT
1: MK/move to Poly (this day has to be at MK because that’s the day my son marches with his band) I would have bell services move our luggage.
2: Sleep in/EPCOT
3: Resort Day
4: move to AKL/DS/rest day at resort in the pm
5: AK
6: MK
7: Departure day

Any and all feedback is appreciated!

I would honestly just do the 2 way split. A 3 way split just seems too much to me. I hate being “homeless” without a hotel room for an extended period of time.

ETA: also, with another MK day, the Poly is just so much more convenient. I wouldn’t give up a stay at a resort with close proximity to parks with one that isn’t as close.

Agreed. We are all about split stays - we do them almost every trip. But 2 resorts is way more manageable than 3. When we've done 3, we wish we hadn't. And for us, the biggest issue is being without a room, potentially from 11AM until 4PM. And remember, if you send your luggage with bell for transfer, it likely won't get to your new resort until 3-5pm. It sounds like it might be fun to try another resort, but I'd recommend sticking with the 2 hotels.

7 days is a long time with that many people in one room. I think the triple split might be better, because at least there's a suite in there for some of the time.

You should be able to make it on the Poly waitlist eventually with that itinerary, but it looks like you are renting points, so that's not really an option. You're too late to book at 7 month mark.

I'd really consider the AKL 1BR standard. It shouldn't be hard to book, and it would be a big upgrade. You could do AoA regular - Kidani 1BR.

I agree as well.

When you switch rooms, there is no guarantee when your new room will be ready. Although check-in is listed as 3PM that is not a guarantee and occasionally guests wait into the evening for their room to be ready.
