Split Stay - how to do it?

It looks more and more like we will have to split our stay between 3 resorts, I know We won't have a car and are just wondering, how to do it?

our stay will look like this:

2 nights value (3 of us)
4 nights POR (5 of us)
and
2 nights POR or another value (3 of us)

My family and I recently did a triple split stay:

10 days at CSR
4 at GF
4 at AKL

What we did (no auto OH) was arrange for the luggage to be transferred from one hotel to the next via the Bell Desk. The Bell Desk at the receiving resort will only bring the luggage into your new resort room with you present. Thus you need to tip twice, once at each resort (old and new).

The luggage generally arrived at the next resort by 3 PM. Based upon our experience I would recommend not to visit any parks during your moving day between resorts. Relax and recharge your batteries.

We enjoyed the three resorts. All vastly different from each other. Hard lesson learn from a long stay at WDW: Build in a greater amount of down days (no park visits) and just relax and enjoy the resort. Despite our conditioning fatigue began to set in near about two-thirds through our stay.

I am a big fan of split stays.....

But move only ONCE.....

stay at POR....DON'T move again....just too much.
trust me.....If you move once...you'll appreciate the different surroundings....
When you move more than once....unless you are staying for 2 weeks....
it is just too much moving.

Book the 2 nights at the value and then 6 nights at POR. Don't move the second time. Alldiz is right about moving twice in one trip. You won't have to make two separate reservations for Riverside, just tell Disney about the two extra people for the first four days.

When you move from the value to Riverside, call Bell Assistance (a value will not have the normal Bell Services - Assistance will deliver and pick up luggage about once an hour, it's not immediate) and tell them you would like to have your bags moved over to Riverside. After you check in and get your room at Riverside, call down to Bell Services (now Services, not Assistance) and have them bring your bags to your room. You won't have to move them yourself. It's pretty easy.

I agree with the other posters about moving more than once. It is a pain even if the bell staff is moving your luggage for you - you still need to unpack ,etc. If staying at 3 different resorts is important to you though (and it sounds like it is), go for it....and let the bell staff take your luggage to the next resort. If you have it ready, you can either leave it in your room or take it to the bell desk for transfer. We have done both and it worked smoothly either way (unless you are not leaving your room until close to check-out time and then you really should take it to the bell desk to avoid mix-ups or problems).

Agree here as well...if you can only move once. Moving once isn't that bad, but twice can be. Your bags may be able to be carried over and you can check in, but you may not be able to get into your room until 4pm or later so you'll have to kill time. If you moved twice..you'd have to DO that twice. Like the OP suggested do 2 days at a value and then the rest at POR (the one that allows 5) and just stay there if possible. Question though...why do you have to move 2x? Is it an availability issue?

Are you planning to get the dining plan? Splitting the stay can make it very expensive unless you are a DVC member. You will have to buy park tickets at each resort.

We sometimes rent points and stay at DVC. We can't afford to stay F/S nights, so this time we stayed the first two nights at Pop Century. It went very well....Disney relocated our luggage for us at Boardwalk. As well, dividing up the trip into two reservations gave us the optoin of using DDP on part of the trip only. We paid as we went for the first two nights...saved a bundle, then treated ourselves for the restof the trip.

Making sure we didn't totally unpack at Pop Century was key...Packing and unpacking an extra time can blow a whole morning

We switched resorts twice in December (actually 3 times in my case) and it wasn't a big deal. Disney does the work for you.
I did 4 nights at ASMU, 2 at WL, 2 at BC,and 3 at POFQ.

On the morning of the day you're switching, call luggage services when you're all packed up and tell them you're switching resorts. They'll come take your luggage, tag it, and move it over to the other resort. When you get there and are settled in your room, call Luggage Services and ask them to bring your luggage up.

thanks for all of the tips! I will be sure to use many of them and it reassures me that it will be feasable.

We are staying in the summer and rates are super high so that's why I'm considering switching back to a value when we go. Don't know yet.
