I want to try the wilderness lodge but i don't want to lose precious time away from the polynesian. So I've narrowed it down to:

1 night at wilderness/ 6 nights poly
Or
2 nights wilderness/5 nights poly

We get in , in the evening so being at the wilderness lodge for the first night saves us a little money too while getting a brief taste of the lodge. What do you guys think?

I would go for 2 nights at WL. When you just have one, and it is the day you arrive, it tends to feel like coming in the room, sleeping, get up and leave. Personally I don't think it is really enough time to get a feel for the place. By staying two days, you can get a better idea of the staff, the energy if the place, and a little time to look around and explore.

I would also do 2 nights at WL. If you arrive in the evenings, it seems like a waste to switch resorts the very next morning.

I agree with the pp's to do 2 nights at WL :).

I agree if you want to get a real feel for the resort then go for 2 or even 3 nights. I love split stays but would think it a hassle for less than 3 days. This year we are doing 6 days BLT - 9 days AKL.;)

I would definitely do the 2-day or even a 3-day. We love split stays, but I don't think it's worth it for just one day. It's just not enough time to get the "feel" of the resort, IMHO.:goodvibes

From our experience, we've found 3 nights to be the minimum in order to truly get a feel for a resort ... One of two is just not enough. :confused3

Actually, HairyChest, I like the one night idea and agree with your reasoning completely.
We're doing something similar. Always stay at BC, love BC, but ended up getting a cheap flight to arrive a day earlier than planned. We have always wanted to stay at AK, just to try it, so we were able to get a room there on arrival night, and save some money over BC, too. One night will be fun, we're excited about staying there for one night, and next trip we'll see what happens.

Hope you have a great stay, wherever you end up! :goodvibes

We are doing a 1 night on our arrival day at pop before moving to GF to save money. But I love WL, and would stay 2 nights there.

3 is my personal minimum as well but the OP said they didn't want to miss out too much on the Poly. One night just isn't worth the hassle to me. ;)

I think I would either find a way to spend all seven nights at the Polynesian with an evening visit sometime to Wilderness Lodge or do the one night at Wilderness Lodge.

I only do split stays if I need to do them for some reason. I like to unpack and settle in otherwise I feel like I have two way too short vacations.

With two nights at WL, I think you will be unpacking a little more and yet not really settling in to enjoy the resort. While I love Wilderness Lodge and have yet to stay at the Polynesian (still hoping), you might even be wishing you hadn't done the second night at WL.

One night at WL you won't need to unpack and it will give you that brief taste of the lodge you would like to have and more time at the Polynesian that is home to you. If you arrive in the evening - to me that is the best time to be at the lodge and get a feel for how wonderful it is. You can leisurely enjoy the resort. Go out on the dock to watch the Electrical Water Pageant. Know what the rooms are like by staying overnight and then leave for your favorite resort in the morning.

On the other hand, you might be wishing you had spent the second night at WL :) Well that was a big help - ha ha! Never mind. :)

Thanks everyone for making it more difficult!!! Hahaha ok so now im thinking i might be able to negotiate doing an extra day so it could potentially be a 3/5 split. What do you guys think?

Either that or im leaning towards a 1/6 because i think a 2/5 might make both stays seem short whereas a 1/6 would make the later half be nice whilst a taste of the lodge the first night. Echoing what collete said.

3-5 sounds perfect. I would not do a 1-6, you would barely get a feel for the lodge and will lose park time in the transfer. I would go all Poly rather than a 1-6 split.
