We're a travel party of 6 adults and 2 kids in 3 rooms. We will be arriving by 2 cars in Orlando on a Saturday evening. The plan is for my mom and I to visit US on Sunday and start our Disney trip on Monday. We want to stay in an Epcot resort (just haven't committed to one yet) from Monday through the end of our trip.

We need to figure out Saturday and Sunday night. My mom had made noise that maybe we do a room only at our chosen resort Sunday night and just stay offsite Saturday. This sounded reasonable except... That means my husband and dad will check us in at Disney. They will have no clue as to what, to do. I really hate the "clueless male" stereotype but it's not a stereotype here - both men are baffled by Amazon shopping. Plus, I hate to put them on luggage AND kid duty. And that Sunday will be Dad's birthday so I prefer not to torture him.

Here are other notes-
1. I really don't want to shell out another $1000 to stay Saturday night at an Epcot resort.
2. We would access to a hotel room earlyish on Sunday for naps for the kids
3. Our goal is to visit all HP attractions in both US and IOA and have a birthday dinner with my dad Sunday.

Looking for advice on what to do. Do Mom and I go to our hotel early Sunday, check in, leave our luggage with bell services, and we all would just wait for the room number text to hopefully come around 11 or noon? Would it be easier to stay at a Disney Value Saturday night and have bell services transfer our luggage? I'm guessing we still have to check in at the next hotel. Other alternatives?

Checking into a room isn't that hard...are the men really that inept?? :confused3 You can pre-check in so they don't have to do much or anything more than grab the room key and sign their name.

You might want to consider staying at one of the US resorts on Saturday night (maybe even just you and Mom?) because that gives you front of the line access for Sunday and I think even early entry to the park. The rest of your group could stay at Disney while you and Mom are there.

Mom will want a king size bed, Dad would never ask for one. And seriously - they can't use Amazon. My husband doesn't have a bank account and does no bill payment. My dad went to the store with a list of 10 items the other day and called 4 times. The last time I used online check in, the front desk didn't have any of the requests noted and it was a 45 minute ordeal. If I felt confident checking it at Disney would be as easy as checking in at the Holiday Inn, I wouldn't worry but in my experience, it's not.

I did consider everyone staying at a US resort Saturday but my understanding was front of the line was useless for most of the WWoHP and that's the only thing we're interested in. Plus, while he's a very capable father (as opposed to his ability to use a credit card), I wouldn't leave my husband with two kids under 5 in an unfamiliar location overnight.

Consider staying at one of the US hotels. A friend of mine usually stays at Hard Rock. Bonus is the early admission to the WWoHP. There are still lots of things to do in the hotel, swimming and such, plus shops and the like. And he can always drive over to WDW for mini golf or something. You can also divide the family as you suggested and maybe the rest of the gang goes to enjoy a fun value resort at WDW like AoA and you and your mom stay at a US resort.
