Split stay DVC/non-DVC - how to book

Hi. I am a relatively new DVC member planning my 3rd DVC trip for Jan 2013. I am thinking about doing a split stay: 4 nights DVC at BCV, and 3 nights at Fort Wilderness cabins (on cash). Would you book the cabins through DVC member services or would you try to find a discount/pin code? Is there an advantage to booking cash ressie's thru DVC? Thanks!

You cannot book a cash reservation for a non-DVC resort through Member Services. So if you want a cash reservation for a FT Wilderness cabin, you have to call the DRS (Disney Reservation Center).

I would not want to use my DVC points for a Ft. Wilderness cabin. In January, the cabins cost either 31 points per night (S-Th) or 36 points per night (F-Sa). For just a few points more, you could be staying in a 2 bedroom villa at VWL.
