Split Stay Check In/DDP Questions

We have a split stay coming up in November. The first night is at BLT and the rest are at VGF. I have checked in online for both reservations, have magic bands and all tickets are linked in MDE. The BLT stay does not include the dining plan but the VGF stay does. My questions are this:
1. Can we check into VGF without checking out of BLT? We plan to spend a few hours at MK in the morning before we check out of BLT. It would be nice to stop by VGF and check in on the way to MK, especially if we have to check in to VGF to be able to use the dining entitlements (see question 2).
2. We would like to use the dining plan for lunch the day we switch to VGF. Must we be checked into VGF and checked out of BLT to use it? Since we have magic bands are the entitlements loaded on the bands the day we are scheduled to check in, so it would not be necessary to check in to the resort first to use them?

Yes you can check in before you check out, that's how we do our split stays always hoping that the room might be ready. You have to check in at VGF to use the DDP credits for lunch.
