How hard is it to transfer luggage? We would be staying in the Tower at the CR and checking into concierge at the GF. Our plans are to go to the MK that day. Thanks for any insight and help.

We have not done that yet, but plan to next year from POR to WL. I was told that the resorts will take care of moving our luggage. So when we get to the other resort that afternoon, the luggage will be there. And then it can be taken to the room.

We did a split stay between POFQ and Poly in August. We just telephoned bell services and they collected our luggage and gave us receipts. The luggage was then tranferred to Poly with no problems and when we checked in and got to our room we telephoned bell services and asked for our luggage. Sometimes the luggage is left in your room for you - I think it depends on when it arrives and when you check in to new resort.

It's easy and we did just what the pp did. I do recommend taking an extra outfit for everyone to have in case you need it before your luggage arrives. We got caught in a downpour and had to sit around in wet clothes until our bags arrived. We're doing this again in July since it went so well last year...:)

Thanks! I just booked the split stay and am SOOOO excited!

We've done several split stays, but I honestly wouldn't do a split stay for a week. I won't split unless we're there for at least 10 days. IMHO its just too hectic with small kids, packing and unpacking. It is nice to have two different resorts but this last vacation we stayed the whole two weeks at YC and even the kids said they liked staying put rather than switching.

Of course in July (when we take the whole kit and kaboodle) we have to split our stay. THe Magical Gathering will be at WL (deluxe - but less expensive) and when the older kids and their families leave DH, me and the little ones will have to move over to GF or YC. We're going to put one of the younger kids in one of the other rooms when we do the Grand Gathering, since WL rooms only sleep 4.

Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll have a great time, but think it through because it is a little chaotic when your kids are young.

Last trip we transferred from the Poly to the CR. It was very easy.

We got up that morning, and I took the monorail to the CR while my parents packed up the room (maybe you could do something similar with you and your husband?). I checked in at the CR and then took the monorail back to the Poly and called bell services. The CM brought a luggage cart and gave us a tag for our bags. He did warn us that our luggage would probably not be at the CR until around 2-3 pm in the afternoon.

We headed off to Epcot (got there about 10 mins after opening) and returned to the CR around 4pm. Called bell services and they brought the luggage right away.

It was very simple and easy - not a hassle at all.

Yes, we are staying RPC for 3 nights. Best of both- CR tower MK view and RPC!

I did a search on split stays and found this thread, which was very helpful but I have a question. Do you tip bell services when they pick up your luggage to transfer and then again when it is delivered at your new resort? Thanks.
