I have 5 nights reserved at Pop in a standard room. We have 6 day tickets so we will be in the parks on the day of arrival & departure. We drive & it's only 9 hours. My original plan was drive down the day before, stay at a nearby offsite hotel, make it for rope drop & head to Pop later in the day. I decided it would be easier to add a night at Pop. They don't have the same type room available but can put us in another at Pop for 1 night then move to our standard room. How much of a hassle will that be? We want to be in the park from rope drop until mid afternoon that day so won't be there to deal with moving luggage.

Less of a hassle than checking in with your luggage that day. Just get your bags together and the staff will move them for you. I’d totally do it!

Another suggestion would be to pack a separate bag for just the one night stay to use the first night so you would only have to “move in” one time.

This is what we do. We drive too and almost always end up deciding to go ahead and come a day earlier. We always pack a separate bag with only what we need for that night and leave the rest in the car (except for electronics or other valuables). Makes it a lot easier.

It's definitely not guaranteed, but I would call and tell them you would prefer a standard room if at all possible for that first night. We had to book a different room type once for our first night, and they were able to accommodate my request for a "downgrade" to standard room so we didn't have to move.

Thanks. They said at this time they didn't have one standard room available for the entire stay with the added day but that might change. I'm hopeful that is an option but I'd gladly change if it meant the rest of the stay is in a refurbished room. I've already requested a room in a refurbished section. That has limited the rooms they had to choose from for me.

Send them a request and let them know you have the two reservations and request you be kept in the same room if possible. POR did that for me once and it totally worked out.

This happened to us once at the GF. I told them what we booked when we checked in and in the end we didn't have to switch rooms the last night (that's the one we added on at a later date). It's in their best interest (housekeeping-wise, etc.) to keep you in the same room if possible, but it's not something they can guarantee.
