Split Stay at Same Resort - Renting DVC Points

My wife and I rented DVC points for a 4 night stay at AKL this September. We decided to add one more day to stay for a total of five nights. Unfortunately, the original member did not have enough points to add the night, so we now have two reservations - one Sept 11-15 and one Sept 15-16.

My question is, when I check in, should I tell the CM at the desk we have two reservations? I'm hoping they won't make us vacate and move rooms on the morning of the 15th since we're staying another night even though it's under two different reservation numbers.

You could ask each member you booked with to add continuing reservation to their reservation and add the other reservation number to try to link them. When you check in, ask the front desk if you are booked into the same villa for the entire stay. Both reservations will need to be the same booking category.

Thanks for the response! We booked through DVC Rental so I can't contact the members but the person at DVC Rental told me to just tell the front desk and they can link them and we won't have to move. Hopefully that works.

We have done this many times and it worked out well for us each time. When we make the cash reservation we make sure that we are booked in the same room category as the DVC reservation, then when we are checking in, we tell the CM that we are booked one night not using DVC points so would it be possible to stay in the same room for our entire stay, they would just have to notate it in their computer and they also had to make a call to the room assigner to make sure that there isn't someone else assigned to your room for any part of your stay. The only thing you will have to do is when one reservation is done, you will have to go to the check in desk and check out and then check back in again in order to have your MBs work for the second reservation.

Thanks for all of your help! I'll make sure to talk to the CM when we arrive, explain that we have two reservations, and hopefully we can keep the same room! I figured we'd have to check out and then check back in for the Magic Bands to work but it's good to have confirmation!

You can have the members (both members have to agree) LINK them but you cannot merge two reservations made by different members into a single reservation. Had both reservations been made via the same member (and were in the same resort and category), you could have had them merge it into one reservation.

When you check in, just tell the front desk that you have two reservations and you'd like to keep the same room. It's not guaranteed but they will do what they can and yes you have to check in again. Sometimes they tell you that you can do that by phone but I've just stopped by.
