We have a 3 resort split stay planned right now. We are spending one night at GF, 6 nights at Poly, and 2 nights at CR. We have DxDP on the Poly reservation. I know that the plan starts at checkin of poly and ends at midnight the last day. We are planning on 1900 PF the morning of our checkin day at Poly, but will still be at GF. If we do online check in at Poly will the plan start before we make it to Poly or do we need to head over and physically check in first for use at 9:15 reservation at 1900?

This is how we have done it 3 times now and it always has worked just fine.

Do online Check In for resort #2 and put your estimated arrival time for 7AM, or 6AM if your ADR is before 7AM
Go to the Front Desk of resort #1 and physically check out (from talking to a couple CMs, this is most important)

That was actually going to be my next question, because we want to use the pool at GF after breakfast while waiting for Poly room to be ready. May have to skip that.

You can still use the pool at GF. You are considered a guest of that resort until Midnight of Check Out day.

Sorry OP, but I am hoping to piggy back on this as we are considering a split stay - I did not realize you needed to do a dining plan based on nights at a resort, it is not for your whole stay while at WDW resorts?

I believe you CAN add dining plan to multiple onsite resort stays, but the issue with that is that every time you change hotels is a completely new reservation and considered a new "stay". Dining plan credits are active at check in and expire at midnight on checkout day, so I am not sure how the overlap would be handled.

We have kind of a different situation. Our booking is an earmarked booking(My wife is a TA and won the booking at her agencies convention). It is a six night stay with DxDP. We originally had CR booked at her TA rate without dining for 8 nights. She won the trip at Poly so we shortnened the CR stay to 2 nights(they wouldn't let us extend the nights of the trip she won). Due to flight prIces we then booked GF for the night before the Poly( even with regular pricing we still saved $250 flying in the night before). Since we have 3 reservations we would have to add dining to each one to keep it during whole stay. We figured we wouldn't use it the first night and would have more than enough credits to last us on Poly checkout day that we will only pay OOP for one whole day.

You are correct, from what I have seen from others it will use your old ones up first on the overlap day.

A split stay is an internet concept and not recognized by Disney. If you do a 2 resort split stay you have 2 completely unrelated reservations in Disney's eyes. The DDP is per night of your stay. So you would have to have 2 instances of the DDP to cover your whole stay.
