Hi All,
I am considering doing a split stay for an upcoming trip (maybe WL/BC). I am also looking into the DDP or DxDDP. I understand that it is a package & I need to purchase a park ticket to buy the DDP. If I am doing a split stay, is this considered to be 2 reservations? Do I need to buy 2 separate tickets (like a 3 day + a 4 day INSTEAD of a 7 day)? This would be much more expensive, so I am trying to weigh all of my options here.

Thanks!!!!!:)

Yes, it would be considered 2 separate reservations. As such, to get the dining plan for both, you would need to buy tickets for both (unless you are staying DVC on points or have an AP).

You could always buy tickets to cover the full stay with the first reservation, and one-day tickets on the second reservation, and save the one-day tickets.

It is definitely two different reservations. Last year we did a split stay between POFQ and the Poly and we only did the DDP for the POFQ portion. This way we could use a room discount for the Poly (it was free dining) and pay OOP for our meals.

Check out the ticket requirements - sometimes you need to purchase a 2-day ticket in order to qualify with certain packages. That's a pretty big cash outlay, especially if you're not planning to return any time soon.

Since you're interested in WL/BC, you might want to look at renting DVC points and staying WLV or BCV for the second half of your trip. If you stay with DVC points (even rented points) then you do not need to purchase tickets in order to buy a dining plan.

Thanks everyone! I was afraid that would be the answer...lol. So now onto plan B:confused:

Off to research how to buy DVC points!

I do have a friend who is a member, so I guess I could ask him. I think that they are going next year, so I am assuming using the points. But maybe he will know how I can find out more about it.

Check the DIS DVC board. They have a rent/trade board for those looking to rent points or rent out their points. Make sure you read the rules for posting and the procedures for arranging a rental.
