I booked POR and my reservations says Royal Guest Room- Garden View. Is this a good room for DH and I?
Also Booked Yacht Club,it says Garden or Woods View, do you have any suggestions on what I should request for a room? She asked me if I had a preference but I said not at this time.

I'm just excited to go with my son and his family(2 little grandsons)! I'd stay in a tent, but to DH the room is a big part of the trip, it could make it or break it for him.

The Royal Rooms at POR are cute, but not necessary for an adults-only trip, IMHO, unless someone is really into princesses as it has some little princess details in the room and fireworks in the headboards. You may want to see if a Preferred room is available.

YC is gorgeous. We just stayed in a Garden or Woods View room and the view was lovely (as it says, it was gardens and woods, LOL!). We just requested a quiet room on a high floor and were assigned a room just a short walk away from the elevator which was nice. Far enough not to hear the elevator noise but close enough to be near the lobby when we were heading out to the parks for the day, the restaurant, the pool or the QS in YC.

At the YC, I would request near the lobby for convenience. At POR, I agree with PP that preferred would be better value for adults. If you like the RR decor, though, I would request Oak manor, near the foot bridge.

I guess I'm going to have to call them and ask to switch to a preferred room. We don't like the decor in the RR. If they don't have anything else available we can stay there but not what we had in mind. I should have viewed some pictures of the room before I committed.

I will request a quiet room on high floor, thank you!

If they don't have a preferred room available at POR, you may also want to see if there is availability at POFQ. They are sister resorts and share amenities and it is as lovely as POR.

I called POR to see if I could get a different themed room and they said they only have Royal Guest Rooms for our dates. I did get the garden view so that's a plus. DH is not thrilled about the theme in the room at all, he says it doesn't look very inviting or relaxing. looks like I'm stuck with it

I checked again online for a room that wasn't the Royal Room & I searched regular price, so I got a king room for $3.15 more a night & it has a nice adult decor...why couldn't the Disney Rep think of that on the phone? We are happy with our room choice!

FYI: King rooms seem to be in both Alligator Bayou and the Magnolia Bend mansions. The decor is quite different in these two room areas. Have a look at both and consider if you prefer one to the other as you could end up in either with a standard king room, I think. Distance to the lobby might also be something to consider requesting. It might be useful to check out PortOrleans.org to get lots of info and maps on rooms at this resort.

Enjoy POR! It is an awesome resort!
