I am thinking of doing a split stay.

First 3 nights in a Mod with DDP. Then renting DVC points from a member and moving to DVC villa for 4 nights. I am planning to add DDP to the Mod ressie and get tickets for the whole week. Then, for the DVC ressie, I can add the DDP without any tickets? Is this right? Also, does this mean that on the day I change, I would actually get DDP meal credits for both ressies? That would be great because my needs are somewhere between DDP and DxDP.

I'm scared that I am not figuring something right.

The only people who can get the DDP without having to also buy park tickets are AP holders, people staying on DVC points, and some of the military deals, so you are correct in that you would not have to buy park tickets for the DVC part of your reservation. As far as getting the DDP for both stays, you are also correct, but remember the DDP goes by night, not days of your stay, so for your first stay you will get three nights worth of credits (3 CS meals, 3 TS meals, and 3 snacks). Those would have to be used by midnight on the day you check out of your moderate resort. Your dining credits for your DVC stay will also start that day if you need to access them. Again, you get the DDP for each night (not day) of your stay, so you'd get 4 CS meals, 4 TS meals, and 4 snacks for that stay. Doing a 3 night/4 night split stay will not give you any more credits than doing a regular 7 night stay. You still get a total of 7 TS, 7 CS, and 7 snacks for the week, not 8. You just have to be careful to use those first 3 CS, 3 TS, and 3 snacks before midnight after you check out of the moderate. They will not carry over for the rest of the week.

One thing to remember though is that you can't combine credits from the first stay with credits from the second stay at the same meal for the same person. In other words if you wanted to go to a 2 credit signature restaurant on that third night, you could not combine one credit from the first stay and one from the second stay for that meal. Now if you have at least two people in the room, you could get seperate bills and one person use the last two dining credits from the first stay and the second person then use two credits from the second stay. If you have only one child there would be a problem, because the waiter can not use one credit from the first stay and one from the second stay. Just be careful to make sure you have used all of your credits from your first stay (including snack credits) by midnight of the day you check out of your moderate resort. They will not carry over after that and you would just lose them.

Just to add, additionally... the DVC member you're renting from will need to book the DDP for you for that leg of the stay. Non-members cannot call the member services line to do so.

Since the DDP now has to be paid for at the time it's added, you'll need to find some way to arrange payment through the member you're renting from.
