I'm wondering if I should book a 7 day trip this way: 4 night reservation to which I would attach DDP and following 3 nights with no dining plan at all. What are the chances I could stay in my same 2 bedroom LV at BLT?

Well I would say that the odds should be in your favour to stay in the same room just make sure to set it up when you check in and try to make mention of it on the resy.

Kim - if you think that would work, what do you think about not putting one person (my mother) on part of the reservation at all, so that we could get dining for the rest of us. (We'd feed her - she just doesn't eat much at alll!!!) This is what I'd really prefer to do, and just pay oop for her meals. I thought I had to buy DP for everyone on the reservation. Is there a way around it, in anyone's experience?

I'm not sure it would be all that simple. Consectutive reservations for the same room class at the same resort should be linked automatically by the system, so they would all be under the same DDP. Not them would require having different priary guests listed ont he reservation, and would require a check-out/check-in at the front desk, meaning there is a possibility of moving.

It is policy to have all room occupants on the reservation, discussing/advocating bypasses to established and published Disney/DVC policies are not allowed on the DVC boards. The DDP is required for all occupants of the room for the length of the room reservation. Not listing an occupant violates Disney polcies, and can pose a danger in case of an emergency at the resort.

Thanks, Chuck. What about leaving my mom off the reservation?

You may not leave your mom off of the room reservation. (see above, as we were tyoing at the same time.)

Thanks again, Chuck. I don't want to do anything unethical - just thought there might be some loophole I didn't know about. Thanks.

you can do this and there is nothing wrong with it. Book the first 4 days and then call back and book the next 3..link the ressies. Just know there is a chance you will have to move, but it isnt likely.
when you used moms credits just do it in a way that it benefits you most..snacks/desserts or drinks you can use after your ddp has ended
You can use your credits up until midnight your check out day(day 4 in your case) so you could use moms extra credits to feed people 2-3 times on a couple days. make full use of your check in day and check out day(of the first part of your stay) moms credits wont last long that way and you wont be cheating the system

Linked reservations are considered a single reservation by the DDP system. Until the reservation system enhancements come online, you can not truly link reservations without getting the DDP for the entire length of stay.

I will have to defer to you, but that has not been my experience. maybe I was just lucky

If you had the DDP for the first part of a stay, it means you had to technically check-out and back-in, and receive new key cards without the DDP. The reservations were not truly linked. Linked reservations do not require a check-in/check-out, they are seemless.

perhaps, that was it, tho even with linked ressies I always thought you had to check at the desk on your change day(between the 2 ressies)

you can have 2 ressies at the same hotel and do the dining on the one and not on the other. I guess I dont know for sure if ours were linked. :confused3 we never changed rooms tho

perhaps, what you are suggesting is indeed what we do, 2 ressies but not linked

It was my understanding that a linked ressie simply a way to join together disjointed ressies(like if you had to waitlist)..so 3 days, here and 2 days there and 4 days there..all due to a change in your mind or a waitlist..linked together enables the personel to understand you havent made room changes(or may not want to make)
