Split Reservation and Dining Plan

Has anyone done a split reservation and had the dining plan on both reservations? Is it difficult to manage? My real concern is on the check out/check in day when the dining credits expire at midnight from the first reservation and the new ones start the same day.

Is it best to try to use up the first reservations dining plan by check out day before the new reservation starts?

The only "gotcha" is that you have to use ALL the credits from the 1st reservation before you can access the credits from the second. Even if you have 1 snack credit left you won't be able to access any credits from 2nd stay.
