:scratchin I had partial luck in applying BAT to my existing reservations at CSR 10/19 - 10/24. Two of the nights will be at the $94 rate while the other 3 are still at $144. I was told that I would have to check in and check out when the rates change.

For those who have done this before, will I actually have to pack up everything and change rooms for check-in/check out? Any helpful info on this???

Thanks

We had to do the same thing in order to get the AP rate. I was told by CRO to let the resort know when you check in
(the first time) and they will arrange it so that can stay in the same room. She said that we may have to go through the check-out, check-back-in paper work but will get to stay in the same room, as long as we let them know when we check-in at the beginning of our vacation.

Good on ya for getting the special rate! We called tonight and secured it too! (Happy, Happy!!!!!)

We've gone the split rate in the same hotel in the past, a few times in fact, and have never had to to check out then check in. The tactic we used was simply to smile nicely at check in, explain how we set-up our reservation, and "insist" nicely that we really don't wish to endure a hassle while on holiday. (I used the term "insist", however that word is a little too strong.... We've simply stated our expectations in a very polite manner and stood our ground.) I believe that the CMs at the check-in desks don't really want a "hassle" during their shifts so if you're nice, they respond in kind.

At check-in state that you'd like the ressies to be bridged. It has always worked for us.

Have fun!!! :earsboy:

I am not quite sure what the last poster meant by "bridging" the two reservations. I work at the Front Desk of a Disney resort and there is nothing we can do that is called "bridging." If you have two more more reservations with different rates, those reservations can (and almost always are) be linked as continuing ressies. That means that you are pre-blocked for the same room for your entire stay. The room assigners have normally noticed your continuing reservations before you arrive and have pre-blocked you. But you can always check at the time of check in and verify that the room assigner has noticed and that you are pre-blocked for your entire stay.

But you are going to have to go to the Front Desk on the day your new reservation starts. The cashier will have to check you out of one reservation and into the next one. New keys will have to be cut for your room. It is not possible to cut one set of keys that will work for two or more different reservations. The computer system is also not designed to charge more than one rate during a stay. ......

In a Disney resort, you pay the room and tax for the entire stay up front (when you check in or prior to that). Then each night, the computer charges one night's room and tax from the total you have already paid. By your last ngiht in the resort, the credit
of what you pre=paid is used up by the nightly charges. But if the computer cannot charge different amounts on different nights.

Is there a software package that could do that? Perhaps. New systems are developed every day. But the system that Disney uses will not charge different amounts on different days. And I have previously worked for two other large chain hotels and the software there would not charge different amounts during the same stay.

IMHO, the guest is the one who decided to have two or more reservations. Therefore, I don't think it is that much of a hassel to just come to the desk, sign a new registration card, and pick up new keys.

LadyLT, that's great that we have someone who knows what they're talking about! thanks for posting!

Actually bridging means something else relating to personnel and combining your time at the company...sorry off subject.

As someone who has to do this all of the time on my trips (Hubby is a CM and our ressies are always more than 7 nights), just tell the CM during checkin that you do have continuing reservations. You should not have to move, but imagine that there is always the possibility. We've never had to do it yet in 7 years times 5 trips a year. We always zip to the front desk before breakfast, around 7:00 AM, so never a wait.

LadyLt,

(Sorry this is a little off topic) Can you give a little lesson on how much leeway the front desk has at check-in in assigning rooms? Are the specific rooms blocked out for each reservation, or are rooms assigned from those available the day of arrival by the front desk? The reason I ask is that I'm looking for a specific area at WL when I check-in. If there are no rooms in that area the day of my arrival, will the front desk allow me to choose from what's available (I really don't want an upgrade--I'm already paying for the room type I want), or will my room ready be assigned? I don't want to fill my ressies with 2nd and third requests.

I've heard many stories of upgrades being offered because of "the luck of the draw." Since I have reserved the room type I want, I'm concerned about someone upgraded to an area I would have liked if they check-in before me.

Thanks.

:earsgirl: Thank you all for the helpful information. I had visions of checking out before 11:00 and not being able to check-in again until the after 3:00 (although I was willing to do it for the savings :hyper: ). It sounds like a pretty simple process though and I appreciate your experiences.

This is great and timely information for me. We kinda spontaneously made reservations during Christmas week that span into the first few days of January. No discount rates for Christmas week but they do go down on January 1st so I made two reservations. I really didn't want to check-out and change rooms and it sounds like I may be able to avoid doing that. Thanks all!

OT
EdDone--did you try the disney site (disneyworld.com)? they were offering discounted rooms through the Christmas break (even though it said it was a blackout), some resorts were available at a discounted price. give it a shot, unless you are deadset on one particular resort. just a thought!
