Splatter Painting Sneakers?

I found a pair of very plain, white sneakers. They are not cloth materials like Converse/Keds. They are more the materials of regular workout shoes. I was thinking of creating splatter paint designs on the shoes to add colors. Do you have any suggestions of type of paint and how I would go about doing this?

They were on sale and are extremely comfortable so I couldn't resist - But, really don't want to wear bare white colored shoes.
