Splash one last time…but single rider

Theme parks like Knott's Berry Farm there is only only "divider" for a total of 4 riders. Meaning you can sit basically in the lap of someone behind you. Splash has dividers for each person.

Knott's won't sit strangers together, or will only use 2 riders per log.

The original Splash Mountain logs only had one divider. Groups were in fact called upon to sit in between each other's legs (shortest to tallest) with no individual divider for each rider. Matterhorn used to be similar. I think I saw old footage of Space Mountain with a similar arrangement. I can't think of any rides that have this kind of seating anymore.
Thanks for the information and history, I had no idea. And also - YUCK!!! No thank you. I’m so glad they don’t have it set up that anymore.

I have pics from the old style logs when we went in big groups and crammed 8/9 of us into a log.

For Matterhorn they didn’t always seat you tandem. I remember riding solo when being there with my dad by the time I was in high school before they changed the vehicles out.
I thought Matterhorn used to have one divider with parties of 2-3 in each half. I remember signs posted telling you how to enter and to put the smallest person in your party in the front.

That is how the seats were. I think for older kids though they may have seated them on their own. It would reduce capacity of the car when done though.

Yeah. The cars would hold 8 if people were seated tandem, but only 4 if separate. The newer vehicles seat 6.
