My trip to WDW in March was my first trip there since 2003. When i rode Splash Mt. I was in for a suprise!!!!. It wasn't my first time riding the ride but it was my first time getting soaked!!!! it was the first ride we went on when we got to the MK. now it wasn't the hottest of days, and i normally HATE water rides not my favorite thing to get soaked and walk around wet. Well when i got off this ride i went right to a store and bought a new outfit because it was chilly and i was wet, dripping wet! :confused3 I mean i did get a new outfit bought for me, but that wasn;'t the point!! when did they turn it into a "water ride" before you would get a little wet and i could handle that , but not to the point were i could ring a glass of water out of my clothes!!!
So my question to you....has anyone else gotten soaked, and when did they turn this into a ride that you get soaked on????
thanks!!!!! :wizard:

I've never gotten soaked on SM -- wet, yes, and only mildly, but not soaked.

Of course, I haven't ridden in the front, either. I don't know if that makes a difference.

It really depends on where you sit in the log, how much weight is in the log, and how that weight is distributed. Your best chance of staying dry is to be in a lighter log sitting toward the back. You can always wear a poncho though, and then you'll stay pretty dry!

Yes, I've gotten pretty wet on this ride before, but it was during the summer when it was so hot I enjoyed it! If you don't want to get wet, sit in the very back, or wear a poncho.

I have ALWAYS rode in the front row when riding the ride and I would not have it any other way! It is the best way to experience the ride. However, this past trip I did notice I got more yet than usual (May 28, 2006) I am not sure why. I was SOAKED, but I liked it. It was 10:00 AM and HOT!

Funny you say that!!! i was in a light log... there were 4 of us in it, and i was the very last person!!! BUT it wasn't the drop that got us.... it way before the drop that we got wet! it was the part when you go into what looks to be a brown barn.... and there was a shot of water and it landed right into the boat on all of us... we weren't sure if there was a timing issue and it was off... or if it was something new they added to the ride.

We just rode Splash Mountian on June 6 and yes we got wet. We got hit by a shot of water before we got to the big drop. LOL beside the shot of water we also got the splash from a landing log next to us at the same time. Fine with us...we were dry in half an hour.

My advice if you do not want to get wet is to not ride or wear a poncho. BTW if you wear a poncho make sure you sit on it also...the seat will be wet from previous rides.

We love this ride just the way it is.

every time i've gone on it (and that's since it first opened) i've always, always gotten soaked. inside where there's the turtles and frogs - waves brings water into the log - and at the end of the drop where water is splashing everywhere.

i don't think they've made any changes, unless i've always been unlucky and gotten wet every single time. :rotfl:

It happens. Some get soaked... others get a mist. All depends....
I dont like the ride. I dont like water rides in the parks because I dont like getting wet. Even if I did like getting wet I dont like that ride.

We have been on Splash Mountain many many times in just about any combination of row & log weight you can imagine. I've never really gotten that wet until one of our rides during our visit the week before last.

Just after the beginning of the ride, you go through the outside loop that goes clockwise in front of the big drop. There is a water cannon that fires at the logs on that loop as the other logs go down the chute. After being blasted by it one time I started watching for it. I noticed that it does not fire every time, it appears to be somewhat random.

I've heard before that Disney has ways to vary or control the "wetness" of the ride and do so based on the weather. I don't remember that water cannon from past rides, so it may be something they can turn on and off. I don't know if that's true or not, but it was very hot this time and we got very wet one time. I didn't mind since I always keep the digital camera and tickets/fastpasses in a small ziplock bag in my pocket when I'm at parks with water rides.

On our last trip, my bottom got wet and so did my feet and that's the first time I experienced getting soaked on Splash Mountain too.

I've heard this too and it has only happened to us one time. Usually, I sit in front and kind of duck down on the big drop and never get more than just a little damp but the time that that other log/water cannon got us - there was no warning and no amount of ducking was going to keep us dry from that! We were SOAKED!

I don't ride Kali Rapids for the reason that I hate to wear wet clothes all day but I'll be trying Splash Mountain again!

Since January 06, refurbs have been done. OH Yeah! You get soaked. Now the water cannon does not spray toward the sidewalk and keep the sidewalk wet anymore it soaks the log going up when the log goes down the big drop. Here we were in the middle of January, at night for EMH, and the cannon dumped buckets on us! I don't mind getting wet on my face, and shirt. But when your feet slosh in tennis shoes, and unmentionables are soaked, thats a little to much. :furious: Now, we bring ponchos!

Hi all I am new here. Sometimes the people in the front can bend way over and the people behind them get more wet. I noticed in April that when we went on Splash, when we went passed the waterfall (after the big drop) that the water was not falling as fast as in the past and we did not get wet even though we stopped next to it briefly.

It happens sometimes. My sis and I rode on our last night in June 06. We were on a light log in the second row. On the big drop, the people in front of us dunked, so we got soaked.

We were there on June 6th as well and got soaked on Splash...wouldn't it be funny if we were in the same log?? Probably wasn't but you never know...it was the same way, our boat was outside, where you could see the big drop, right as a boat went down the water canon next to us went off, and EVERYONE in our boat got drenched. But we were dry very soon!

This was our experience last January as well. And I didn't much care for it. I just don't do the poncho thing, so I'll hope for a warm day on our next visit

This was the FIRST ride we rode on our FIRST day in MK on our FIRST every trip to WDW on Monday 6/26. I was expecting to get a bit wet, but as others have said, I wasn't quite prepared to get SOAKED. First, we got a huge splash when we passed the log coming down the hill, then, when it was our turn to go down the hill, I can't say exactly what happened because I couldn't see, as water was pelting me directly in the face for what seemed like an eternity. I mean, I literally felt like I was being drowned! :) Needless to say, I was SOAKED and looked like a drowned rat in all of our family photos the rest of the morning! What great memories! LOL! Of course, my kids thought it was terribly funny to see dear ol' mom so soaked!
