okay, y'all. i think i just might give splash mountain a try on the next trip. but, just how wet will i get? and if i sit in the back will i get less wet?

Hmm... it all depends on the weight of the boat and where it is... more in the back the higher the front is the less it pushes in the water... however the other way around... could be wet!! But hey its florida you'll dry off in time for the high noon rain shower :)

Front row gets wet, others usually not too much. But I have never been soaked to the bone wherever I've sat - if you're worried put on a poncho!:D

I've sat in the back and stayed bone dry. Sat in the front and gotten both soaked, and also stayed relatively dry. But it's totally worth it because it's such a great ride. And you can't beat the view of MK from the top. So GO!!! It's fun!

More soaked when we are in back of log,we don't mind it.We love Splash Mountain.Sometime's after you come down main drop and go around curve the logs are backed up from loading area and on the right side is small falls of water that can soak you pretty good, just depends on where your log is at.::yes:: :wave2:

Don't sit in the front. If you don't wanna get wet, and don't care if you look like your are terrified of the ride... you duck your head on the way down. You still get a little wet, but not as much.

I did that on a cold day in Jan. I wanted to ride it but didn't want to get wet.

Thanks? Do you know what you're going to do now based on these responses? Or do you just know now that you might or might not get wet wherever you sit unless you wear your yellow poncho? ;)

Ya' know... I never thought of looking out at magic kingdom at the top of the hill until i read these boards. And now I am still waiting to do it, because every time I ride I am so fixated on the drop that I forget to look. I really wanted to look at nighttime too, I can just imagine how wonderful the view is with the park lit up!!!

Don't forget you could have small children riding in the front.

That happened to me and DH in April....lol The water went right over their short little heads and onto us.

Back left should be the driest... thats where my daughter sits...

Duck as you get to the bottom of the big drop.

Just after the big drop, the log turns right and goes beside the big drop... a water cannon shoot at you from the right side... put someone large to your right!

And a short while later you go by a dribbling water fall on the right... sometimes the logs get backed up and it stops right next to it.... then it does NOT seem like a dribbling water fall! Again, keep the big guy to your right!

In my experience, it seems as though there is a "manufactured" splash (i.e. some type of water cannon) that is set to go off every so many logs. If you stand and watch Splash Mountain for a while, you'll see what I mean - every 4 or 5 logs, there is a huge splash, which splashes all the way up onto the people watching from the bridge. That being said, I have been on Splash Mountain and not gotten very wet. But - my last time on it, we were in the log that got hit with this huge splash - and I was sitting in the front seat. To say I was soaked is an understatement - I was literally dripping from head to foot!

After this happened, we stood and watched the ride for a while, and there was definitely a pattern to how often this huge splash occurred, and ther did not seem to be any correlation between the big splash and the size or layout of the people sitting in the log, which is what leads me to believe that this is caused by some type of water cannon going off at the bottom of the drop. So, while you may be somewhat more protected by sitting in the back, you could end up in the log that gets soaked - if you're concerned, I'd wear a poncho just in case.

As someone else mentioned, having small children in front of you may cause you to get wetter than you normally would. My 4 year old DD rode in the front row twice this past May. She got wet, but the people behind her got soaked!

i'm 6'2" and about 310lbs...you put me in the front and you are sure to get wet...
also, keep to the left side of the log...after the drop you may backup and get wet next to a "water fall" that will flow down and splash into the log....
have fun!!!!

I've always gotten more wet from sitting on the seat than the ride itself!

That said, just wear a poncho. Lots of people do, so you won't look odd. :umbrella:

I've never gotten that wet when riding Splash Mountain. We tend to try and ride it on a warmer day because you do get a little wet but I wouldn't say soaked. Maybe others have had different experiences. Have fun and remember to scream!

disneynutsss, the ONLY way I've been able to handle the ride is to stare STRAIGHT at the castle and space mountain. Which made riding at Disneyland last year a big problem. :)

About the manufactured splash idea: I've noticed (or I've imagined) that people appear to get less soaked in the cooler months. It seems to me the splash is able to be adjusted in a lot of ways we're not aware of.

I have never gotten totally soaked on that ride. All I have to say is that it is my favorite ride and it is totally worth getting a little wet. Don't worry, it's just water and you dry off!

Have fun!
