As the refurb continues, it seems like splash mountain’s track is significantly wider! The Disneyland app also features a double seating log... has it always been this way on the app?

Anyone else notice this?

I can't imagine this is the case and am wondering if you are mistaking Splash at WDW or one of the international parks.

I can’t imagine the track would be this wide while using the same single seated ride vehicles.

Also the drawing of Splash on the DL App is different from MDE app drawing, so I find it curious they purposely have two-seated logs draw for DL.

Interesting. I don’t remember how wide it was before. Did the app show a single rider log before?

I am with HydroGuy on this one. I've seen no rumors to this effect. Changing to side-by-side seated logs is big news and there's been no info leakage or speculation to this effect. Plus it seems to me that the refurb would have to be really long and extensive to widen the flume throughout the entire ride to accommodate the larger logs.

Intriguing... & an interesting catch on the DL App! It would certainly increase capacity on Splash!

Sorry, guys. Just checked the Google maps that @mnmrmustard posted in his PTR last July. The Splash pic hasn't changed. So the current pic in the app is not an indicator of a change. (I would welcome it, though!) Mnmrmustard has wonderful blown up versions. But unfortunately, my pic of my printout is grainy from low lighting.

:D c'est la vie! Happens to all of us!

Well, I pulled up a pic of the top of the drop and compared the two. The pic I found on Disney Blogs shows one large and two small rocks at the top left (as you are looking at it). The pic taken by RedHot appears to show one large and the two small rocks now cut in half. On the right side the Blogs pic shows three rocks in a row; a large one, a somewhat 'heart shaped' one, and then a smaller one a bit lower. The lowest rock on Red's pic is now gone. So it does appear that at some point that area was widened. Whether the actual water flume was widened, who knows. Could have just been done for safety/access reasons. The current logs already have a double back seat so I expect the flume is already wide enough for the WDW style logs.

Here's the blog link. I'm sorry I'm really bad at uploading, you'll have to scroll down and find the pic then compare.

Blog is from 2014.

I can’t wait to see reports when the ride is being tested again.

I personally can’t imagine the entire ride has been fitted for a new capacity in this period of time, but there are some curious hints that couldn’t be ignored. I’d be very excited if it was a two seater!

Good analysis @StormyCA! It would be helpful to have a straight-on shot of the flume, similar to the Disney Parks Blog for even better comparison...

Isn't Disneyland supposedly doing everything they can right now to have more people in other areas of the park in preparation for Star Wars Land? This would allow a lot more people on Splash.

I have read nothing of preparation in other lands to take overflow.....as there will be no overflow.....all those folks showing up...Star Wars or nothing....they ain't going nowhere else...unless......

but your observation is correct about DTD, they are building an additional hotel, for all those folks showing up.....to visit SWGE.

I think that Pixar Pier is a relatively cheap but major refurb to create “new things” for people to experience when they’re not at SWGE. The Adventureland rearrangements (moving stroller parking and the replacement for Aladdin’s Oasis) could also be connected to SWGE overflow. I anticipate that other refurbs will be scheduled in such a way to ensure that everything has full operating capacity for the first three to six months of SWGE. (Having said that, I’m doubtful that they’re able to make this particular Splash Mountain modification.)

There will be a lot of people who buy three-day tix to make the most of their trip to visit SWGE. Once they’ve given Day One to waiting one or two hours to get into SWGE, and then an additional two to three hours for each major attraction, they’ll be ready to explore other areas on Days Two and Three.

Thank you...i am just trying to find different perspectives on how the whole SWGE is going to function.....I am of a whole different view....... that folks coming for SWGE have little interest in Disneyland on their one day visit. and the four star in DTD gives some support to the characteristics of a SWGE visitor

That makes good sense too. I suspect that both of our theories will play out to various degrees.

The app has shown the WDW logs from day one of the apps existence. This is nothing new.

Also, the flume is exactly the same width as prior to refurbishment. In order to accommodate side by side seating would require a complete re-build of the ride and a multi-year refurbishment.

And if Splash Mountain were to get new logs, we would have already seen or heard about them. Pictures and info about Matterhorn new sleds were know for at least 4 years prior to them entering service in 2012.

Just recently they announced an update to Aladdin's Oasis as an attempt to maximize unused space in the parks to absorb all the new visitors to DL once SWL opens. And you're kidding yourself if you think they're coming into DL and not doing the rest of the park as well. Even if they aren't big fans, they'll have to do something when they show up and find the land packed at capacity already for the day.
