I just went out and checked the refurbishment schedule for this weekend because I'll be at the parks starting Friday and Splash is no longer listed on the refurbishment schedule. When I checked last week it was. Anyone who has been there lately know if it is actually opened or not? Do I dare hope? I was finally able to convince my 6 old niece to go on it and would love for it to be open. Below is the schedule for 4/26/02 directly from Disney website.

Refurbishment Schedule
Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes
it's a small world
King Arthur Carrousel
Sleeping Beauty Castle
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Interesting -- it WAS on the rehab schedule yesterday but isn't on there today. If no one knows for sure please let us know after you return from your trip!

Have fun! :)

<font color=navy>Okay, I just called Disneyland, and the CM (very nice, I should have got his name) said that if we're lucky, Splash Mountain might be open by late summer. I asked about the safety restraints that are rumored to be installed on it, and he said that they have a huge tarp over it, and whatever they're doing to it is a secret, and the CM (so he says ;) ) has no idea what they're doing right now.

I heard they took it off the rehab list because people were getting frustrated when they kept changing the dates. Splash was supposed to open for the summer starting June 14th, but it may be later than that. They're working on creating new logs now, and it's rumored that they new logs will have individual seats and fit only 5 people.

These are all rumors, of course, but I think it's for certain that Splash will be undergoing a long rehab after it closes back down at the end of the summer. That's too bad because it's one of my favorite rides! :(

No restrains in the logs at this time. Testing of the attraction with Cast Members will be this Saturday.

Is the DL Splash Mountain much different than the one at WDW? We're headed to DL in November, so hopefully it will be back on line by then, but from what I've read I'm not going to hold my breath!

The seats are different on the DL splash. I think the inside is different also, but I don't remember.

The seats are front and back, not sitting next to people. Old ones, there were three seats and each sat 2 people each with back seat holding 3 and the front two possiblely holding 3 small people.

OC Register, and other places have reported that it will now seat 5 with individual seats. I haven't checked the CM refurb schedule lately, so not sure when it's supposed to be up.

I was there yesterday and all of critter country is closed

Mouseplanet.com has some updated info on this (all unofficial, mind you...)

Basically, dletz is right, the new logs have 5 individual seats. Testing occured over the weekend, and apparently the go ahead has been given to retrofit the old logs to the new configuration. Some issues (again, according to Mouseplanet):

5 in a log is less than old logs, so wait time will increase.

Parents cannot hold small children like they used to.

Loading gates were just reconfigured into three lines, now those three lines go to 5 seats instead of three.

Memorial Day Weekend is only 3 1/2 weeks away, and Disney wants the attraction up by then.

New logs cannot accomodate some larger guests that used to be able to ride in old logs.

Lawyers still evaluating tests, and also whether height requirement can stay where it is.

Sounds like a lot of things still need to be dealt with, so I'd be surprised if SM was back up by Memorial Day, but its possible.

According to the latest CM booklet that lists hours or attractions, shops, restuarants, shows, etc. Splash mountain rehab is still listed as being done May 25. Of course that doesn't mean much, it's just when they expect it to be up. In general these dates are what the CMs are allowed to tell guests, so that's what they're currently shooting for. These dates are by no means set in stone, but will be the info you get from asking a CM, or going to guest relations. Fantasmic is still listed as Summer, with no specific date given.
