are there any restraints to hold you into the seat on splash mountain??? my little boy is exactly 40" and only 4 but really wants to go. he is tall enough but i saw pictures and there didn't seem to be any seat belts or anything. how would he stay in? please help. thanks

Sorry to say that there are no restraints to keep you in your seat. If I remember correctly you hold onto something in front of you, but I can't remember what it is. However I have never heard of anyone ever falling out of the log when going down the big drop, so little your boy should fine.

Splash is not a wild ride. Unless he jumps out, he'll stay in. And you can put your arm around him. :)

I forgot to say that if there ever was a problem with guests falling out of the Splash Mountain logs, they would have added restraints or seat belts. So WDW knows what they are doing when it comes to the safety off all guests who ride Splash Mountain everyday.

Splash Mountain is actually a very gentle ride. It builds up the expectations of "thrilling", but it really isn't.

Gravity will keep your child in place. They don't need restraints. In fact, most coasters don't either - but they do have them in case a coaster gets stuck (if you need a restraint to keep you in under normal circumstances there is a problem with the ride).

The reason there are no restraints, besides the fact they aren't necessary, is because if by some fluke one over turned (and I've never ever heard of it happening), it *is* a water ride, so you'd not want to be restrained into a boat underwater.

There is nothing to worry about; if he meets the height-requirement, he's safe. The only reason it's not safe for smaller kids is not because they might fall out, but because they wouldn't be able to sit high enough in the log.

My little boy rode it a few weeks ago. He just made the 40" height and he was totally fine. In fact he loved it!!

My youngest was also 4 when he first rode Splash. No problems at all. :thumbsup2 It is still one of his favorite rides!!

My son rode it at 3 last year (he was 40"). Of course when we get to the top of the big hill he puts his hands up in the air like the adults. AHHHHH! I just kept my arms around him the whole way down the hill. Even if it wasn't necessary, it made me feel better. :)

We went when my dd was JUST tall enough. I have the picture of us going down.........she is laughing with her hands in the air.......I look terrified with my arm around her.

As a parent with a small child, the hill looks so BIG. But, once we did it, I felt better.

She is now 10 and still has her hands in the air on ever rollercoaster!!
