Try not to laugh at me, okay?
I have come out of the closet as a total coward in the EE post. I was scared to death on it. Now I'm wondering if I should do Splash Mountain? I was planning to on this trip but I was so scared on EE I'm not sure anymore.
On Maelstrom I always wish the drop was bigger, but is splash too big?
I'm not afraid of heights, the thing that scared me on EE was the feeling of pressure in my chest. Of course on EE it went on for a lot longer than the one drop on Splash.
As you can see I'm totally dithering over this! Opinions?
(And while we're at it, how's Kali?)

I used to hate Splash Mountain coss of the drop but my mum always made me go on it and now i love it. It is really not as big as it looks from the outside or from the top coss your down it so quick. I find my heart goes so fast as we are going up to the big drop but then after I'm like why did i get so worked up about it. I would suggest you make sure your not in the front of the log. and On Kali rapids, its great but be aware you can get soaked if your in the wrong seat and i mean dripping wet so i recommend you to wear ponchos. It is such a laugh and we always end up talking and having a joke with the other families riding with us on the same raft. So what happens on EE?

You'll be fine on Splash...there is no pressure on your chest.....it's a lovely drop and is a bit more than that on Maelstrom but you will love it.....

Kali is also fine - the drop is not that bad.... :thumbsup2

Okay, brave person! You would not catch me on EE for love or money. No, never! That being said, I LOVE Splash Mountain. It's such a cute ride and the drop is really over before you can be afraid of it. Last trip I just worked myself up to BTMR, which is pretty tame compared to EE. Kali is just plain fun, though you will get very wet!

Here's why I have to disagree.

YOU said you were scared on EE...

I rode EE several times and marveled at how there was never a "roller-coaster" feeling in my stomach.

But on Splash, I ALWAYS have it a couple of times during the ride and of course on the BIG drop.

So given WHAT YOU SAID... you should experience the same "feeling" if not MORE on Splash as you did EE.

Now... that said...

I LOVE BOTH of these attractions.
But if you won't ride EE again, I certainly can't in good conscience tell you that you won't feel any "scared sensation" on Splash.

As I said, I DO... but I LOVE it... every single time.

To the EE "scaredy-cat"... EE is so SMOOTH, that you are denying yourself a MAJOR pleasure by not riding.

(I'll bet you were told a similar story about Splash before you rode it... aren't you glad you DID?)

What is EE? Splash mountain is our favorite RIDE!!! my 4 and 6 yr old boys CANT wait to get back to it this august! My 6 yr old is physically disabled too and its not too rough for him. If its cool out id opt not to do it b/c you do get wet especially if you sit up front. Its how we started our hot days in august last yr and it helped keep us cool for like an hr (at most :rotfl2: )

On the outside chance that you are not KIDDING...

EE = Expedition Everest, the newest coaster at WDW.
It opened just this month at DAK and is SPECTACULAR!

BTW, Regarding the WETNESS of Splash:

If its "cool" outside, they can (and most times DO) turn off many of the WET effects on Splash... most of them are INTENTIONALLY mechanically created and can be turned down or off entirely (including the "big splash" at the big drop).

What about the chest? That's what gets me. Going backwards, in the dark, for a long time on EE I felt like someone was pushing my chest into the seat and that scared me and after that I never really got past it.

Also, you mentioned several times on the Splash, I thought there was just the one big drop. Are there more? Any bigger than say the one on Maelstrom?

Yep. More. All bigger than Maelstrom.

BUT this is a GREAT ride!

BTW, the feeling in your chest on EE is "worsened" by what YOU create in your head.

The first time I rode it, it was there... the next few times, I expected it... and it simply didn't bother me again.

EE is Expedition Everest at Animal kingdom.
Yes i know what Expedition Everest is.. I just wasnt thinking at the time. The ad for on the disney website is cool. Yeah i think if you can handle that, splash mountain should be a breeze!

I have a pretty low threshold myself and so I probably won't be going on EE. I have been on Splash twice. It was really fun the first time. The second time I was nervous because I knew the drop was coming. At least the drop is at the end so after that, the ride is over and you don't have to fret about what might be coming next!

Now when it comes to Kali, I think that is my favorite ride in all of WDW. Absolutely nothing about that ride scares me in the least. I like it best when we get completely soaked on it. In fact if we don't get very wet when we ride it, we get right back in line in hopes of a wetter ride the next time! I only wish the ride was twice as long -- it all goes by much too quickly.

I'm hoping to try BTMR on our next trip if I can talk DH into trying it. He's not into coasters either so I guess I'll have to see how brave we're feeling when the time comes!

I like the looks of that one but I hear it's rough.

Yes, a BIT... but BTMRR is nothing compared to the "roughness" of Space Mtn. and RnRC.

BTMRR is a very fun attraction for most any age-group...
and nothing like so many other non-Disney coasters in other theme parks.

Gotta LOVE BTMRR!

Robo's Smooth-O-Meter for WDW coasters:
(Didn't include Toontown or Dinorama "carnival rides").

From SMOOTHEST to ROUGHEST:

EE (amazingly smooth)

Splash Mtn.

BTMRR

RnRC

Space Mtn.
