Splash Mountain to become Princess and the Frog ride

Agreed! It is a statement. And given my kids' reactions to Splash Mountain, I think one their generation will truly appreciate.

Why does everything in life have to be a statement? It’s a fake ride, with fake rabbits, fake mountains and fake bees.

Think of how many kids will be excited to see Tiana....and actually know who she is.

But don't a lot of kids also love Br'er Rabbit solely because of the ride. It's been mentioned on this thread. Any way you slice it, someone's favorite is getting the short end of the stick.

Area of the parks aside, I cant really picture a better IP to put in this attraction in regards to the animals and southern feel of the current ride. If it was going to be anything, I’m very glad its Princess and the Frog, and not just because the movie introduced us to the first black disney princess.

If we have the luxury of being able to go have fun without looking over our shoulder or wondering how our race, ethnicity, sexuality, or other immutable characteristics may make us a target, sure, we *could* just go have fun somewhere. But until everyone has that ability, those of us who do should be more concerned with getting everyone there rather than just having our own good time without a second thought to how we are contributing to their risks.

That's the thing - if you are against the change you are overreacting because it's not that important of a thing, but if you are for the change it is a seminal, watershed moment in history. This isn't a balanced way of looking at it. I am not saying everyone is acting that way, but the sentiment is present and it's weird.

I don't get this attitude if we change one thing we have to change everything idea. The issues with splash mountain/SotS are not new.

You forgot Small World as it uses lots of cultural stereotypes .
Also, SDMT uses a non PC term for a person of small stature.
