Is it possible that the refurb for Splash Mountain will be completed early? It's scheduled to be down until the 21st but that seems like a long time for it to be down. We are coming March 5th and sure hate to miss it.

Very unlikely. It goes down for the same amount of time every year. Last year I missed the opening by one day.

I asked this very same question today to another dis group. Lol. It does seem like a very long time to be down. I will miss it by 1 day if it stays closed through 3/21. That is our fav family ride!

Sorry, that's not the case.

Just going by how many times I have missed Splash Mountain because of our visits and the engineer who I got to talk to last year. I was hoping myself for an early reopening, and he explained to me why that wouldn't happen a day early.

He also gave me more info that I didn't quite understand about, why they shut it down every year to clean out and repair during that time period.

So, please forgive me for being wrong.

Possibly by a day or 2, but never by 2 or 3 weeks. And yes, just about an annual post Christmas refurb. Lots of disappointed people every year.

I guess it depends on your perspective as to why SM is down in the first place.

If you believe it really is down for refurb then it's always possible the work could be finished early and it will reopen early, but...

If you believe it is down because Disney wants to shut it down during the cooler winter months when no one rides it anyway, then hoping for an early reopen is just not gonna happen.

And the real truth lies somewhere in between.

I hope it opens a day or two early Dan, my sister and I will be in MK on 3/21 supposedly the last day of the closure. It was closed when we went last year and we sure would like to ride it. :thumbsup2

We will be there March 21st too. It would not allow me to make a FP+ selection for splash on that day. I do have one for the following Wednesday though.

Its possible, so I would plan on it not being open, and if it is, just enjoy the bonus. All the best.

You never know, Ashleigh. Hope you and KK have a great trip. :cool1:

even though it is supposed to open on the 22nd, it is running standby only.

the 23rd is the first day you can get a fp+ for it.

it was closed the first time I visited, so it is at the top of the list this year for us.

We go down next week for what will be our family's second trip ever to Disney we went the same time last year and it was down there too so we have never had the opportunity to ride it. There is so much to do at the parks we never had time to get down about not being able to ride it.

Have you been on Splash right before they do the refurb every year? Half of the animatronics don't even work.
