Splash Mountain - Open in January?

I was planning a trip for late February 2017, but someone pointed out that Splash and/or Pirates may be closed that time of year for cleaning (as soon as IASW is back open). Of the three water rides, they only close one at a time for cleaning, they said. Not sure if that's accurate, but it makes sense.

Anyway, considering backing my trip up to the third week of January. Is Splash usually open in January? What are my chances? Thoughts?

Thanks.

P.

I do think that the water rides (where you get wet) tend to close in the winter when the weather is colder, but unfortunately, the past is not always a good predictor of the future in terms of DLR refurbishment closures. You can look through wdwinfo's archive of DLR calendars to see when Splash has been closed, but at this point, there is really no way to know if and/or when Splash will close next year. There have also been random/intermittent closures (of all or part of Critter Country) due to the Star Wars Land construction. I haven't noticed a strong correlation between PotC and Splash closures; more often, it seems like they try not to close Splash and GRR at the same time.

I think the POTC refurb rumor is due to the upcoming 50th anniversary of the official opening of the attraction on March 18th 1967.
It would seem to make sense for POTC to go down for a refurb after the holidays, but before 3/18 to be "spruced" up before the 50th anniversary .
Unfortunately, its our first visit to DL in January, and dont want to hear about a POTC refurb in January ! This may be our only trip to DL, and HM and POTC are 2 of the main reasons !

Our first trip is coming at the end of Feb and I'll be so disappointed of POTC is closed :(

Thanks. Looks like last year Splash was closed Feb 8-18, 2016. GRR was also closed Feb. 15-28. Pirates was closed May 9-15, 2016.

With the closure of Splash Mt all of October, I don't anticipate another closure during it's normal time. If it happens, it might be another week long closure like they had earlier this year.

That said, if it or Pirates does close, you can be sure that Disney won't tell you until about 2 weeks before. That's the way Disneyland likes to slap around their customers these days.

Well, it looks like this rumor is TRUE . POTC will be closing for refurbishment on Feb 3rd through March 15th . Looks like it will open up just in time for the 50th anniversary of the attraction .
Not great news for Feb-March 15th DL visitors, but awesome for us January DL visitors !

AAAAAAHHhh!!!! That totally stinks. We've got an beginning of March trip to DL and this one will be down. Dangit. Splash Mt better not be down, too.

Shoot, that means no Pirates and no Tower of Terror on that trip. If I weren't an AP holder, Disney would be hearing from me every day! Now I'm just mildly ticked off.

As far as the Matterhorn goes, we like to look at it...and that's about it. We'll ride it maybe once a year. It's just too darn rough. So, that's not too bad. Plus my son calls MFW, the Fun Wheel of Death. He does NOT like that ride. Those aren't bad. But the Pirates and Tower refurb are still rubbing me a little raw.

Boo! We'll be there 3/10-3/14. I won't miss the Fun Wheel of Death (I don't care if I never ride that again), but missing PotC and Matterhorn is a bummer. We'll be back in April, but the March trip is a girls only trip with a friend who won't be coming back with us when we return.
