Splash Mountain for a 4yr old??

My younger DS was 4 when we first took him. Any child who meets a height requirement at WDW is absolutley safe. Disney rides are a great primer fo other amusement park rides because younger kids have so much to look at on the rides. That is what makes WDW so special. Theming is everything. If you are worried just follow the example of the ride and find your own "laughing pace." You will all have fun on Splash Mountain! I guarantee it.

I think you should absolutely ride it!!! The drop appears FAR larger from the outside than it really is. There are also a couple of very tiny drops inside the ride, literally like little hills. The scenary is absolutely worth seeing, and you can show your son that even though mommy is a little nervous, it never hurts to try something once!

A word to the wise, when you approach the drop, you go up what seems like a ridiculously high hill. I admit to being a wee bit nervous during that approach. However the drop is over in a second, there isn't even time for your tummy to flip! lol....

I think you'll be surprized and awfully proud of yourself when you get through the ride and it becomes one of your favorites.

Has anyone else noticed that now you usually get SOAKED on Splash because of the water cannons?? Even my older sons were upset at how wet we got!! If you go on with little ones, try NOT to sit in front or they may get soaked which could be scary as well for them.

Yes, they did change the ride so that you get drenched now! Be prepared for this Disney vets who think "oh you don't get too wet on that one!!!" :rotfl:

As an aside, since you asked...my freakishly tall kid rode it when she was 2!!! And she was absolutely fine!

We were there 2 weeks before ds's 3rd b-day. He was just over the 40" mark and was probably about 38 lbs. He loved it. To this day it is still his favorite ride in all the parks! DH and I Go on all the rides and I am thankful that DS likes them all too.

I think if your DS wants to do it then you should let him. Don't worry about him falling out. Like pp said husband will be able to hold on to him. :)

I will NOT keep him from riding, and I'm actually trying to work up the courage to ride myself b/c I LOVE the Brer Rabbit/Bear/Fox stories and would love to see the inside...I think it should have a walk through path for the chickens!! I've done all other rides, except this one and Mission Space...I did not like ToT too much, and since I can actually see this drop off, I just can't bring myself to do it.....Thanks to everyone who replied!! I feel a little better about it...maybe I can be brave enough this time.....we'll see in 24 more days!!! :yay: :woohoo: :cool1:

You can do it!:thumbsup2 While I do NOT enjoy the big drop at all, the rest of the ride is so incredibly adorable I can make myself deal with the drop! If you push down on the floor really hard with your feet, that seems to help me get through it better and not feel like I'm going to come out of my log, even though I know that's not possible!

My DD was 3½ the first trip she was tall enough for Splash and BTMRR and she absolutely loved both of them! Have fun!

I wouldn't ride it in May after riding in April and getting drenched! I've never got that wet before and I wasn't prepared to walk around the whole day soaked like that. I know it will be too hot to not ride it in oct so I'm going to bring a change of clothes with me this time.
