My daughter is over the height restriction for Splash, and I can't quite decide if I want to let her try it. She loved Barnstormer which I felt was jerky and wild and annoying lol. She also is pretty brave as far as toddlers go and doesn't have any fears of heights or rides as of yet. I however am terrified of heights and grit my teeth the whole ride, EVEN THOUGH I love it haha. I am just hoping to hear some positive stories of taking your littles on Splash for the first time. Do you warn them of the drop? Let them watch? Leave it up to surprise? Can I wrap my arms around her as we drop it does she have to be holding onto the bar? Thanks so much guys!

I showed my DS4 the YouTube ride video and he says he's riding. We don't use the word scary. We say something is spooky, fast, fun, etc. I am going to have him watch the drop first and then decide. But I'm pretty sure he'll be going on it though.

My daughter was 4 when she rode for the first time and she LOVED it. The big drop was way more tame than expected and she enjoyed all the animatronics along the way.

My son loved and still enjoys the Disneyland sing along dvd. The kids in that video ride splash mountain, and my son had been asking to ride splash for two years before he was finally tall enough. We went in June, he was 4 1/2 years old, 41 inches tall, and rode 4 times during our trip. It was his favorite ride.

My daughter was 4 and has her hands up in the ride photo. She had never ridden anything like it. Most of the ride is slow and relaxing and the big drop is over before they realize it.

Now that she's 6 she has second thoughts about it sometimes though.

DD was 3.5 last time we went and it was her favorite ride. 2 years later, it's still the one ride she keeps asking about for our next trip.

Show it to her. Ask her if she wants to ride it. If yes, then I would let her.

It's safe, so there's no reason not to if she expresses interest. With that said, don't even bring it up to her if you don't want to ride it haha

Both of my children loved it as soon as they could ride (under 4). They really liked the animatronics and thought the drop was a lot of fun. Both my son and daughter are pretty fearless though.

My daughter has been going on splash since she was 3! She’s very tall for her age. The drop didn’t bother her at all and she’s always ridden with her hands up. She’s a daredevil though. I would put my arm around her for my own sanity!

Only you know your kid... Rode the other day and there was a ~6 year old behind us and she was screaming in fear at the short drops even before the big one.. she was in tears at the end.

My daughter just turned 5 this month and she did it last week 4 times total.
She had a blast and was raising her hands on the drop.

But I’ve also seen other kids crying before the ride or during, even teenagers. I don’t get why their parents drag them through the ride if they just don’t want to do it. So it really should be up to her and you of course if you are both comfortable. I wouldn’t try to warn her about the drop to add more anxiety if you guys decide to do it.

My daughter loved it at four. You wouldn’t guess from the look of terror in the ride photo but she always wanted to get right back on.

Perhaps have her watch a video and also watch the boats drop once you are in MK. My DS didn't ride until he was about 6. He was very reluctant to go on BTMRR, but once I got him on that, there was no turning back, unfortunately, as then he begged to go on Splash. He loves it, I HATE it! I hate drops and I hate getting wet. I still go on it with him (holding my breath, closing my eyes, wrapping a poncho around myself). Ugh.

My son was 3.5 on his first trip and begged to go on it. We gave in, even though he was just tall enough and we didn't want to take him on it. Half way through he turns to me and says, "This is too much for me!" I think I had said that to him trying to talk him out of it. He hated it. And the worst thing is, it's long. Drop after drop. We skipped this ride for several trips after even when he was a little older because it put such a bad taste in all our mouths! Now he loves it. Started loving it again when he was about 9, but really that one was a big mistake too early!

Another four year old who loved it here. He wanted to do it at 3 but was an inch short and had to wait until the next trip. If she’s interested, have at it!

We took our daughter, she was 4. She did great, screamed like crazy on the drop (it’s our favourite Disney pic to date). Fast forward 13 years, she’s now 17 and it’s her favorite ride. I say try it once and see how it goes! Have fun!

My 3yo son loves Splash!! He’ll try anything once. On a week-long trip in May, he asked to ride it. When it was over, he said it was scary and he wasn’t going again... but by the 5th day, after watching dad and brother from the bridge a few times, he was ready again- and LOVED it!! He’s ridden several times since then. I wouldn’t force it, but show her videos, watch from the bridge, encourage her, and follow her lead. You just never know until you try. And you can definitely hold her on the drop/ I do every time.
