Splash Mountain FEAR

I have a fear of heights so the first time I went on, I was scared. I just closed my eyes at the top of the big hill and hold on for dear life........now after several trips, I am eyes wide open no fear. I do prefer the WDW splash though, seem to get less wet!

Im the kind of person (ok, maybe the ONLY person) who has this fear of bridges: I dont think Ill fall off, trip, or anything... I actually get it in my head that I will uncontrollably RUN to the edge and THROW myself over.

That makes 2 because I'm the same way.

During Splash thow I have no trouble because you are really never looking over a drop except once and you are quickly down it.

Kind of like how on ToT the doors open you see the park from way above but suddenly the car drops and you don't see how high you are anymore.

MFW is much worse.

The view from the top for that second before the gates unlock and send you down the looong drop is so worth it, I love that view!

Love the ride, and never feel like I will fall out. If family rides in front of you, you can also hang onto the seat in front of you. If it's a stranger they will squish your fingers if you try to do that. :sad2:

But anyway, the low handle bars are great too because there are 2 or 3 areas where the ride stops and lurch, and ends up sort of hurting your back if you don't hang onto the bars and slightly scoot yourself up a little when the 'bumps' are going to come. (Or did they fix this when they did the renovations this past spring?)

For the big drop, no bumps, so don't worry about scooting yourself up just a tad.

Great ride, once you are on, there really is no way to back out, so just try to enjoy it as it is one of the best rides in the parks, truly.

Soarin does feel a little 'woozy' to me because I feel like if I tip forward I could go forward and out of my seat, but splash doesn't have that effect at all.

No worries, you will love it!

I remember them building it, on a trip when I was 12 or so. Up until 2 years ago I refused to ride. The no seat belts, and that drop just looked crazy! I'm a huge ride chicken in general, but was always so bummed because of what you can see on the train, it looked so cool.

Finally at WDW I decided to give a try a few years ago. I almost got out of line a few times. lol My family held me back from chickening out. I'm so glad that they did! It looks a LOT worse then it really is, and the no seat belt thing isn't an issue at all. My butt never moved off the seat. lol

Last year I went on the DLR version, loved it also. This year I plan on going on it as well, as many times as I can! lol And this is a person who still won't go on things like Space Mountain! It is really adorable inside, and even though I don't like drops, the ones on this ride are fun. Give it a try, it will be fine!

Well Im going to do it. You know, bite the bullet and do it. It cant be worse than the tamest ride in the entire park, which is also my major SICK MAKER- the dreaded TEACUPS. UG! Never again. I will do Splash. I have now dared myself.... and I dont like missing out on the fun with the rest of the family.

3 weeks.
I CAN do this.

:thumbsup2

Oiy! This thread makes me feel kind of queasy! LOL I too am afraid of splash! :scared1: I haven't been on it in probably something like 18~20 years (sheesh I am getting old! lol), BUT the way people were describing it here brought it allll back. yikes! Particularly the person who mentioned their hands getting wet and continuously wiping them because they are afraid they will slip on the big drop...I remember that feeling!! WOAH! I don't like drops at all, but the thing is, I LOVE the rest of this ride. I adore the inside with the singing/dancing animals before and after the drop. sooo cute! Last time we went I didn't have to face my fear, because splash was down for refurb, but this time, it will be opened and I KNOW my family will want to do it...gonna have to face my fear too!!! We can do it! Hey, after labor and c-sections with 3 kids, I'm thinking splash is NOTHING, right?! :rotfl:
