Silly question but does splash mountain have a drop in the dark?
Would really love to try as sounds a great ride but terrified of big drops in the dark! :confused3 :disrocks:

Yikes, I can't remember. Last June when we were there, we rode SM about 8 times in a row (in the dark). The only thing I do remember is that the first 2 drops are nothing. And the 1st one is not in the dark.

There are a few drops inside the mountain but to my knowledge, they are not completely in the dark, kind of unexpected and the big one is kinda dark going up but once you hit the top, its outside and over before you know it. Great ride!!

When you drop into Briar Rabbit's Laughing Place, it is in pitch black dark, but not for long. It's on the same scale as the drop on Pirates.

The drop going into the laughing place is actually a double drop. It drops you once about 15 feet brings you back up and then on the second drop you can see some of the lighting from the laughing place. It's pretty fun.

They do if you can call it that...................... :rolleyes1

Yes there is a drop in the dark. I rode for the first time and well lets just say my Mom failed to mention there was more than one drop so when we dropped I was screaming I thought there was only one drop! lOL

C'mon Mike, you don't want to give away too much! ;)

Anything that occurs in the dark isn't too much to handle. Wish I had known though. On my first ride-- we went up--- and I thought the doors (that weren't even there) were going to open and we were going down. Needless to say-- you'll know when you're going down the big drop. If drops on things like Malestorm, Kali, and POTC don't bother you-- the indoor ones won't either.

Thanks for that might just give it a go :thewave:

I don't specifically recall if there is drop in darkness, but I'll have to back and watch my video from on the ride a couple years ago. A Little after 1-2 minutes in the ride there is a significant drop (kind of a prelude to the big one) and then you go through the calm portion of the ride, then the only point that i can remember of being dark is when you are going up the hill getting ready for the final drop. then once you see sunlight, don't look down! lol

Hi,

Posting this live from the Swan. We rode SM this morning and there are a total of three drops. One in the drak but it is not that big the two drops before the main drop are to "warm you up". Go and enjoy.

After the 1st 2 skeleton scenes and "Dead Men Tell No Tales", there is a Jolly Roger that says to hold on and you drop on a small water flume on your way to the battle between the pirate ship and the fort.

Yes, as others have mentioned, there is one drop in the dark. When DD was 35 months, she made the 40 inch mark, so off we went to Splash Mountain with me, DH and my Dparents. Well, it had been a while and we had all forgotten about that drop. My DMom and I were sitting with DD. Let me tell you, that drop felt like it was 10 minutes long, listening to my not quite 3yo crying, saying "i'm soooooooooooo scared!" :bitelip: In reality, the drop is probably not 10 seconds! :rotfl:

She didn't go back on SM that trip, but did on her next journey just a couple of months later. We laugh about that first journey on SM a lot these days! :rotfl:

The drop isn't bad at all--very short and tame. But, it's good to know it's coming! :teeth:
