Two years ago I rode Splash Mountain. It had the skinny log with the deep front seat area where a child could duck down and hide from the splash.

This year when we went on Splash Mountain the Log was Different. And the Height requirement has changed No One Under 5" tall can ride in the Front 2 seats. And there isn't anywhere to hide from the Splashes in the first seat any more.

The New Log is more Pooh friendly. Especially the back seat.

Umm, I don't think the logs have changed in the past two years (though I may be wrong). And the new height requirement was announced about a month ago. I don't remember it being for the second seat though, just the first. Are you talking about the MK Splash? :confused3

The logs didn't change from 2006. They are the same that they were when we were there in April 06.....and we've been there a lot since July 07. Trust me, they didn't change the logs. :) Let's see.....we were there at the beginning of January and my DD8 rode in the front, no wait, it was the second seat. We got the log to ourselves and there are 4 of us, it was dd8, dd11, me, dbf.

The 5ft requirement began last month as a trial. Since its a trial, I can see them experimenting with the first and second seats. Turns out kids were getting hurt trying to duck under the front to avoid getting wet, so DL figured if they had the height requirement then the bigger kids couldn't duck under.

Makes sense....but man, that's the best part according to DD8, she will really be bummed if she can't ride in the front anymore. lol

Dd 4 is not going to like that rule, she begged to ride in front and she got VERY wet and loved it when we went last summer. We're going again in early March.

Same for DS8 he is going to be soo mad if he can't be in front, plus he won't be seen in the ride photo if not in front so I guess that will same me some $$$!

I can see why they made that ride height requirement as I've seen kids try to hide down there and wind up konking their head on the ride. I just hope they don't eventually change the log cars to the type at WDW's Splash where you sit in rows of two, side by side. I like the feeling of being single row like at DL's Splash better.

No worries, he will be in the picture no matter where he sits due to the steep drop making all the seats visible. That said, if an adult is in front of the child the kid might be obstructed but it should work out fine.

He always seems to be blocked in all the other ride photos :confused3 I prefer to duck myself because I hate getting so wet. this is our first warm weather trip in a long time so I may not mind as much this time. That is the change I noticed most in October .......you get much wetter, soak mountain not splash!

You can get VERY soaked indeed! One thing I like about Splash is that you might get very wet or sometimes you get by with just a spray... You don't really know but in the end you usually get pretty wet!

Love that ride but we usually don't ride it this time of year, even if we have panchos on. Splash is great, how else am I going to get my America Sings nostalgia fix! I still feel as if that was one of the best things they ever had at DL and they killed it... It's been like almost 20 years since they closed AS but I'm still bitter! Same with the Country Bear Jamboree but atleast it still lives in FL.

I don't think they can change the logs to be like MKs unless they changed the entire ride track and canals.

I was going to say the same thing. The flumes were built narrower in DL. Logs big enough for riders to sit side by side won't fit unless they rebuild the whole thing.

I agree with both of you, the WDW logs are simply wider and could not fit at DL without a major refurb, which I doubt they would ever do. They could redesign the logs perhaps but it will probably never happen.

Me too - I loved America Sings! "Pop goes the weasel" always cracked me up...and still makes me smile.

Since we were just on that on Monday... they're not enforcing that height requirement. DD was first in the log, and her friend 2nd... both about 4'8", I was 3rd at 4'11"!

Maybe they just don't want the 40 inchers in the very front? :confused3

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm soooo confused...:rotfl2:

Dd 21 yr. old, is 4" 10', and definitely was Told She Could NOT ride in the Front 2 Seats. Both times she rode Splash Mountain, Jan 27 thru 31. She was upset because that was her favorite trick to not get wet!!

But this "trick" is exactly why they do not allow under 5fters in the front any more. If you don't want to get wet bring a $1 poncho put it on and then take it off and toss it when you are done.
