Hi guys, does anyone know whatever happened to this movie? It never did come to our area (ok, so it is Indiana, but it's a fairly large city!)

Just wondering if it's off to dvd, or if there is still a chance to see it.

Thanks! :)

Robin

It was in *VERY* limited release through Disney. If it picks up some Oscars though, I wouldn't be surprised if we see it on DVD soon (or a wide area distribution).

It came to a theater here - we were lucky. :) Metropolis went to DVD pretty fast, so we're sort of expecting Spirited Away to do so as well.

It's a nice movie, though we got the dubbed version here. Susan Egan (Megara, Belle on Broadway) is one of the voices, so that was cool.

Thank you guys...I just don't get the whole thing...I hadn't even heard of Metropolis!

I'll just keep checking for the dvd. *sigh*

Have a great holiday all! :)

Sorry if I confused you! Metropolis wasn't brought in by Disney like Spirited Away was, but I kind of use it as a basis for anime releases. (It was done by Osamu Tezuka who also did Kimba the White Lion that some swear Disney stole for The Lion King.) Metropolis just seemed to come very fast to DVD, however it's a Columbia Tristar release.

I did a search but can't find any info yet on a DVD release for Spirited Away, but I did see that David Ogden Stiers also does a voice. :)

"spirited away" is still in limited release till january; we can then expect it to go to video.
re: "metropolis", I saw it a few months ago on the sundance channel, which surprised me.
for those of you who can't wait for "spirited away" try renting "princess mononoke" which is a beautiful movie and perhaps the best anime movie ever made (of course, i will reserve final opinion till i see "spirited away"

I just wanted to add that I was BLOWN AWAY by this movie. It was all around GREAT. If I remember it is a longer than most Disney movies(90minutes) but my kids 4 & 6 had no problem being glued tothe screen and loved it.

I live in New York and we saw it a couple of months ago. :D :D :D

I got to see it, and though I did enjoy it, I think I would have been perfectly happy waiting for it to come out on video. I guess I just didn't "get it", because while I did enjoy parts, I sure wasn't blown away and certainly wouldn't put it on the caliber of Beauty and the Beast or Alice in Wonderland. I liked Princess Mononoke better.

But, that's just my tastes, and if you like anime, you'll probably love the movie. :)

Just FYI...Roger Ebert just voted this one of the ten best of 02...I'm still waiting to see it...but I think I'd be just as happy on dvd...:)

Happy New Year All!
