I am trying to book a flight from FLL to Detroit for next weekend. I could fly on Spirit in their "Spirit Plus" section for the same price as a coach set on Northwest. I have never flown Spirit, any reasons not to?

Thanks

I normally fly NW, but did use Spirit last October. The flight was very smooth, on time, no lost luggage, etc... I just booked with them today for a trip over Spring Break due to flight schedule more condusive and prices more reasonable than NW.

Go for it! :goodvibes

I flown spirit several times in the past and never had any problems with them. Everyone is very knowledgeble and friendly, flights thus far have been smooth and on time, very organized, etc.

I've flown spirit once. I'd have no qualms about flying them again. They are in the "old" detroit terminal, but that's not the end of the world.

When the price is competitive, I usually stay with NW because they have more flights and I have status with them. If Spirit can save me money, I'll fly them.

No brainer. Fly Spirit, especially since you'll be in the Spirit Plus section.

We've flown Spirit from Atlantic City to MCO several times. Never had a problem.

If you can fly Spirit Plus for the same price as NW coach, do it. Spirit Plus is very comfortable. Large leather seats - two across - very comfortable. I've flown Spirit Plus a few times and LIKE IT!

I have flown SPIRIT out of DTW on a number of occasions. They do fly out of the nasty SMITH terminal where there aren't even working monitors!!! The only issue I have had with them on a couple of occasions is that I got one of the older model MD-80s and roller bags won't fit into the overhead because of the slope and I had to gate check mine.

I second the old Smith Terminal...This is one of the only reasons why I try to stay on Northwest. Ive also had problems with some of Spirit's staff and their "willingness" to serve you. If I were you, I'd fly Northwest, but that Spirit Plus is a good offer... :sunny:

We just returned from a trip to Jackson Hole Wyoming flying Northwest Airlines.
After two delayed flight segments which caused us to miss a connection they had to re-route us on another airline to add another segment to our already long day leaving us to at least 24 hours without our luggage in Wyoming.
No complimentary snacks-trail mix $1, snack box-$3. Beverage service was sparse. On one flight segment an attendent came through the cabin with a bottle of water and a stack of cups. No turbulence issues.
No doubt it will be a cold day "you know where" before I fly with this gang again.
I would choose Spirit in a heartbeat........

I have also flown both Spirit and NWA out of DTW. We have flown both airline a few times and had no problems. As said in a previous post the only negative I can think of is that you will be in the Smith terminal instead of the NWA terminal. But I don't think that is too bad to ruin your trip. Go for the Spirit Plus. We are looking into it for our next trip to Fla. Tell us how it goes.
