Hi, we have an ADR for this show coming up in May. If you pick up your tickets from your hotel Concierge desk in advance how much before your reservation time do you need to be at the restaurant? Our ADR is at 5:15pm We will be at AK this day and am trying to figure out what time we need to leave to go to our ADR. Aldo if anyone knows what buses we take to get there I would appreciate that. Thanks!

If you have your tickets, you can go directly to Luau Cove shortly before the start time. Tables are pre-designated / reserved, so you wont lose on a better view for being late. I will say, they serve the food immediately when you enter (family style). Most of the dinner is served prior to the actual show beginning. So you if you want to see what you are eating, I wouldnt be late! They turn the lights off for the show. You can still eat, but it will be in the dark.

So if I have a table of two people and they serve a plate family style for the two of us or are we seated with others and share food? How long after your ADR does the show start. So, if my ADR is at 5:15 does the show start like 30 minutes afterward? I plan to be there on time for the ADR but was hoping to not have to be there 30 minutes prior by picking up the tickets in advance. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

The earlier you get there, the more time you will have to eat with the lights on. If that doesnt bother you, then you can arrive right at 5:15!. You will be seated at your own table, but you will be an inch away from the next family. You will get your own food for just your party. You do not share food with people you dont know!!

Once you enter and are seated, they bring your food and take your drink order...in that order! You start with bread and salad, then the drinks come, then the main course. Im usually one of the first 25% to enter, which gives a little more time to eat, since they still have to seat 75% more people and bring them their food. They "open doors" (there is not really a door) around 5. I would say the show starts about 5:30 ish. The lights go out as Im midway eating the entree. The desserts come closer to the end of the show.

Lights on! They still are seating people at the top section, which gives us more time to eat!

Thanks for your post! This is very helpful. I will make sure to arrive on time for when the doors open so that I can see what I am eating. I didn't think others would share food with us but I guess I was thinking family style/buffet per table. I was over thinking what could possibly be. Lol

Thanks for the post on the process. How did you like it? I'm thinking about taking my wife their on our July trip for our 2 year wedding anniversary. Shes never been to Hawaii so I'm thinking she will like it. We are also going to Ohana later on our trip. I'm trying to decide between Spirit of Aloha, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Hoop Dee Doo(we did on our honeymoon). What would you recommend?

I know this question wasn't for me but me & my daughter who is 20 really want to see it despite what others say. I think the reason most people don't recommend it as it's not as good as a real luau like in Hawaii. We've never been to Hawaii or a real luau so, for us it's like a stepping stone to a real one. Also I read the reviews on Trip advisor and it states that it's really good. You should read the reviews this may help.

She and you will love it! I have gone to this show since I started going to Disney, 40 + years ago. Every so often, the show changes a bit, as does the meal, but I have never been disappointed. The atmosphere can not be beat, walking through the tropical "gardens" lit with tiki torches and the hawaiian music piped in. I just LOVE it! After getting married, my husband and I went, prior to having children and he bought me a fresh flower bracelet :) After the show we went for a walk down by the beach and saw fireworks from the magic kingdom across the lagoon! It was a wonderful, romantic night.

As for the show....the beginning is almost like a little play/skit The characters educate the audience on Polynesian islands, culture and a few Polynesian words like Ohana means family!! Its by no means a broadway production, but its a nice "Disney-like" show for all ages. After the play comes what typically would be a traditional Hawaiian Luau..hula and fire dancers. They are really great! The food is good...nothing I can get where I am from....Polynesian Inspired, but Im sure it has a small Americanized twist. Nothing strange!! The all you can drink beer, wine and sangria are a nice touch too!!! The music and dancing are great. This is definitely my favorite of the 3 dinner shows.

CRT - Well, to me its a must do at least once in a lifetime! Hey, youre at Disney what could be more iconic than the castle. I of course jumped at the chance to eat inside (I did many times as a child when it was King Stephans Banquet Hall.) Ive brought my kids. My boys could care less about the princesses and the princesses were about all my daughter liked! I prefer breakfast over dinner. I wasnt thrilled with the dinner choices and whatever I did end up getting (porK something), I wasnt a fan of. Thats just me though...Im a little picky! I say if youve never been and dont see yourself going back to Disney ever again, you should do it. If you do plan on having a future trip, do it next time!

I dont think Pork should be pink....but Im not a chef, so maybe this is what its suppose to look like and not the overdone dry pork I make at home :)

HDDR - not for me. Im a northern girl. I have no idea if that has anything to do with it, but I dont get the country humor. The whole show is corny and the food couldnt be worse for me. I dont eat anything on bones, and the meal is ribs and fried chicken. Couldnt even tell you how it tasted, I didnt want it on my plate. The dessert is strawberry shortcake. I dont like strawberries! So, I watched a really bad show and ate a couple of biscuits! I have been a few times with different people, as it was their first time and I like people to form their own opinions. Clearly withg a show running that long there are many people who like it and like the food, Im not one of them, so really the wrong person to ask.

So, Im my opinion, my choices would be #1 SOA, #2 CRT and #3 HDDR. What ever you choose, have a wonderful time and congratulations on the wedding anniversary :)

Thanks for adding your positive take on the show. We can't wait to go! Less than 60 days and counting!:dumbo:

Thanks for all the great information. We are planning on doing this in early May. My dad will be using a wheelchair (but can get out and walk - it's just because he gets tired and cannot do the parks all day - he just turned 89). If there any wheelchair seating available?

Also, not sure if we want to do the first or second show. Would love to watch Wishes from the beach but I think from the first show we would get out too early and the show will still be going on during the second show. How long is the Spirit of Aloha show?

Thanks all.

Timing Question. Just booked this for 5/2 for the 5:15 show. I know it will not be dark at that time but we are taking my dad, who is in his late 80's, so we wanted to do the earlier show. It looks like from some of the pictures the area is covered. I was wondering if this makes it a little darker. My dad does not like to eat in the dark but we also want some nice affects from the fire dancers. We got Tier 1 with the AP discount so I really think this should be great.

Another question is how the walkway is. My dad is very good at walking but just wanted to make sure there is a regular walkway and not walking over sand.

I was also wondering if there is alternative to the pineapple-coconut guave dessert. My DH does not like coconut. No problem if there is not - just wondering. We were not able to get 'Ohana reservations this year and we will really miss their dessert.
