I haven't been to Disney or on these boards for a while. I am looking for recent reviews or opinions of the Spirit of Aloha dinner and show please.

I went a few years ago. The start of the show was really slow and kind of boring. The dancing and fire twirling was entertaining. The food was really good. My personal opinion is Hoop Dee doo is 100x better.

We were at the 5:15pm show last night.

We were on the dining plan and had category 2 seating. Our seat was near the centre in the balcony. We had a great view of the show.

The salad, bread, pineapple and noodles were delicious. The ribs were meaty and flavourful. My husband loved the pulled pork. The veg. And rice were also very good. I did not try the chicken, but my husband said it was a bit dry. The dessert was some kind of guava pineapple cake. It was nice and light. Overall, we really loved the food! Our server was excellent and she kept checking on us to see if we needed extra food, and that's always appreciated!

Because food starts the moment you sit down, I felt like nobody really payed attention at the beginning of the show. Midway through when there was audience participation, more people started to take notice and watch. The show was entertaining though.

I would definitely consider going again on the dining plan. It was worth two table service credits to us.

My wife and I went about five years ago; guess we are in the minority as we didn't care for the food or the show. We left during the intermission. We loved Hoop De Doo.

NOTE1: The Luau plays upon the traditional Hawaiian or Pacific luau. However, the "play" is silly at best and sub-par when compared to any authentic luau. If you never plan upon attending a true luau, then this would suffice. If you have done a real luau or will in the future, leave this unattended. As for the food: salad was OK - bread was OK - chicken sub-average - ribs were good - rice and veggies were flavorless. Overall, not worth the cash price or 2-TS coupons. As for DDP, strictly financially speaking, it is better to pay OOP than use two DDP-TD credits. If spending the money for Luau, you would be more pleased at the Hoop-Dee-Do-Review in Fort Wilderness.
