Can anybody tell me about this dinner show? We've already been to a dinner show a few years ago at Ohanas and the HDDR last year. We've also eaten at Wispering Canyon and 50's Prime Time. We're possibly looking for another dinner show this October. Suggestions or recommendations?:confused3

I've never heard anyone call the little games and singing of the Hawiian host that happens at 'Ohana a "Dinner Show." :) (We love 'Ohana, by the way.)

The Hoop and the Spirit of Aloha are the only two "real" Dinner Shows that Disney presents at WDW.

Everything is subject to the individual tastes of guests, as far as what is "better" or "worse."
I'll just say that both the Hoop and the Aloha shows have been running at WDW for decades.

We have seen the Aloha show once, and the Hoop well over a dozen times.

The entire 1st half of the luau is awful. It's a story acted out about a girl returning to Hawaii after being on the mainland for several years. It attempts to be funny in places, but is incredibly boring and cheesey. The 2nd half is more like a luau, with dancing, fire dancing, good music, etc. The food is OK. Nothing special.

Maybe look at Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness.

I'm going to move this over to our restaurant board. I'm sure the folks over there will have some great information on this dinner show.

Well said. The first part is cheesey, dancing is great, costumes are beautiful, and the food is O.K. I would recomend it, I've done it twice and it was worth the time and money.

I agree with the other posters. The show isn't that great and I believe the food is the same as O'hana. I would dine at O'hana again or do HDDR before I would go the the Spirit of Aloha.

The dancers are the best part of the show.

Yes, the show is cheesy but the dancing and the fire guy are great. The food was some of the best during our trip! Very flavorful :goodvibes

I've done it twice, the most recent being May '07 and we paid for the first tier and the seats were Awesome. We were put right up front in the center of the stage area. Couldn't have ask for better seats. The show is a bit hooky and cheesy but you're in Disney right? what isn't hooky and cheesy at least some of the time, huh? We still enjoyed the hookiness, it's all in good fun. The second half is really good, with all of the dancing, native costumes and fire dancing. I'm half Polynesian and if my dad were with us he'd be sitting there with his chest stuck out full of pride. I'd recommend it. Although I haven't expereinced any other of Disney's dinner shows I've also heard good things about them as well and would like to try the HDDR in the future.
