We just booked the Luau for this trip. I normally don't like to use 2 TS credits but just thought this might be for us. How was the food and entertainment? Thanks in advance.

We did this our last trip. I was worried because of the negative reviews I had heard. The food was better than what I expected. The first half of the show got a little boring, but the second half with the fire thrower was good. I'm glad we did it once, but it isn't something I need to see again. Make sure you are booked with good seats, if you get a table in the back you wont be able to see very well.

Thanks for the info. They told us that we would be in a category 2 seat since we were using DDP.

I'm also glad to hear that the food was better than you expected.

Does anyone know how the category 2 seats are?:confused3 Thanks in advance!

This is taken from allearsnet.com

"Category 1 is located in the lower level, in the center and nearest the stage so you will be as close to the performers as possible. You won't miss a moment of the excitement with these wonderful seats. You'll feel as though you are one of the Polynesian dancers.

Category 2 offers tables in the lower level that are located on either the left or right side of the stage OR upper level tables that are located directly behind the Category 1 seating. All of these seats will give you and your family a great view of the entire stage area and you won't miss a thing!

Category 3 offers tables in the lower level that are located to the extreme far right or left of the stage, OR the majority of the upper level tables. You will still have a good view of the stage and be able to enjoy all of the excitement of the authentic Polynesian dancing. "

Oh PS, the first half of the show does move a bit slower but when they start doing the authentic island dancing it is much better.

Food is decent, we like the salad, bread, rice and such.

What is served? We don't eat pork and I have visions of a pig on a spit and leaving hungry.

Since they changed the show they really took the laua portion down to about 10%. We used to see it almost every year and now will never go again.

They are pork ribs....:confused3
Food is not very good......Hold onto your salt & msg!

Forgive me for the hijack, but are you saying the food at the SOA dinner show has MSG in it? I am allergic to MSG so if this is the case, I am going to have to make other arrangements!

Okay, back to topic! :teeth:

Sorry but.... I thought this show was lame:sad1: ! The story was very corny and overacted:scared: . The food was OK but limited. About the best thing was the service, on time, polite and very helpful:thumbsup2 .

Given the choice, I wouldn't waste 2 TS's on this:sad2: !

Easter @ CSR  2 days! and counting!!!! :cool1:  :cool1:

WE did the Spirit of Aloha dinner in November 2005. I had posted for reviews and 90% of the people said it was not worth it. Thankfully I decided to try it even though people advised me against it. Let me say that I am SO GLAD WE DID!!! The food was tasty and the show was pretty good. True the first part is a little bit slow, but once they start showing you the authentic dances of Hawaii it was really good.

We were also on the DD plan and the seats in Category 2 were quite decent.

I say if you are interested try it for yourself. I am so glad I did. We went in expecting the worst, and were very pleasantly surprised!

Enjoyed the show & really liked the food, especially the bread, salad, chicken, grilled veggies & the pineapple.

Cannot recommend the luau since it stunk. Food and show were terrible, the wine was swill (bad when the nice waiter tells you not to bother and he was right). All in all, the worst dollar to fun ratio we've had at WDW.

Thanks for all of the comments and advice. I've decided to cancel the luau. Just based on the fact that it would eat up 2 TS credits. I talked to a friend today that likes alot of the same things that I do and she said that she enjoyed it but wouldn't use 2 TS credits. So thanks again.

Hmmm... after reading the reviews I'm undecided on this. We've attended the luau at the Royal Hawaiian hotel on Waikiki beach. It was fantastic. Everybody had a great time, so I thought we'd do this show since we won't be back to Hawaii anytime soon. Now, I wonder if we will be disappointed and feeling like it wasn't worth the 2 TS credits. Oh, what to do???

If I liked the authentic luau in Hawaii, will I like this too, or will I be let down?

OH dear....we saw this show about 7 years ago and as I recall enjoyed it back then.

We decided last summer to give it another try. We had front row seats for the late seating (we got a DVC discount on the 2nd seating). Even with a discount, it was not cheap I'll just say.

We thought the food was about a 3 on a scale of 1 - 10. The show was about a 2 on that same scale. It was so corny I felt like I was at a Barney live show for the intelligence level and the storyline. My two sons 15 and 11 were not impressed at all. The girls were very pretty and the men were handsome but the whole overall story was so very stupid. I told the Poly concierge that the was the only show at Disney I would never recommend to anyone I know. I felt like we wasted a lot of money and a perfectly good evening.

just my 2 cents worth,
Esmerelda
