I was just wondering if the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show and the Hoop Dee Doo Review are worth 2 dinner credits? I was looking at the menu and it doesn't seem like you very much for either. The menu for The Spirit of Aloha said ribs, chicken, rice, vegetables. The Hoop Dee Doo Review menu said chicken, ribs, corn, mashed potatoes, and strawberry shortcake. Has anyone been to these shows recently who can tell me about them. I was wondering if you actually get more items than whats listed on the menu? From the menues for each I am finding it difficult to justify the 2 dinner credits for each person.

They don't cost two credits for the food - you also need to calculate in the value of the show. I know at Hoop De Doo that is exactly what you get, there are no extra items that are not on that menu. However, it's all you can eat.

If such things interest anyone in your party, dinner shows are the only way to get DDP to cover alcoholic beverages.

Both those shows were "All you can eat" when we were there last year. There's plenty of food. Once, at the Luau, we asked for more chicken, no problem.

I wouldn't spend 2 credits on the Luau again. We're doing HDDR again next week, only b/c I want to show my mom the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. And actually, I prefer the Cat. 3 seating at HDDR. The Cat. 2/3 seating at the Luau is less than optimal.

We have done both multiple times. They are a show, all u can eat food and unlimited beer and wine if u like such things which my family does....hoop de doo is more interactive but the luao is a good show. Though it lists chicken, rice, etc it does not list the way they are cooked or presented. The food is really good and the shows are good also. Our favorite of all three (Mickeys backyard barbecue is also considered a dinner show but is much less formal and better for small childres) is hoop de doo.

We do Hoop Dee Doo everytime we go, our kids look forward to it. We do the dinning plan and it does take two credits. Is it worth it? yes, our family certainly thinks so.

I agree!!! We do HDDR each visit and it's a blast! Our kids love it too and the food is really yummy, the show is entertaining, and you can have all the wine or beer you want on the DDP (for Mom and Dad of course). WE LOVE HDDR...cant wait till our next visit this December:goodvibes:goodvibes

I went to them both + Mickey's backyard BBQ Nov 2009 & yes they are so fun & the food is good. It gives you fun entertainment & simple good food. I like all 3, if I had to pick one I'd say the hoop dee doo is the best. [food & show] For me all the buffets w/ the dining plan get to be a lot in a week's time. So, I like to use the 2 credits on shows & just pay cash for extra quick sevice or snacks on the days I would have had a ADR. Anyway, I like a few free days that I don't have any reservations.

The food at HDDR is not worth the two credits, but the show is. Don't get me wrong, the food is OK, and there is plenty of it, but the show is the big draw here. We went for the first time last year, and now it is a must do for us whenever we go back!

If you've never done HDDR, you have to do it at least once. It is Disney at its best. This same show and meal outside of Disney probably wouldn't translate in value, but if you're doing a full-on WDW vacation, it is just pure fun for all ages.

We've done it 2 times, but won't this time around. It requires a full evening to dedicate to it and we just don't have an extra evening to spare this trip.

I can't comment on the Luau, but there is just something about it that I don't feel compelled to try it.

Hoop de Doo is the best! We just did it a couple of weeks ago, my second time, but my family's first. Everyone loved it! Didn't read everyone's posts, but keep in mind, this also included unlimited beer and Sangria. They will bring you a pitcher, which is so nice. My husband was the happiest the whole trip at that meal! It was everyone's favorite night :)

IMO, Hoop De Doo is worth it - the food is delicious and the show is a lot of fun, and the Luau is not worth it - long, boring show and "eh" food.
